Graduation cards

I just got a card from my cousin who is graduating high school this year. We aren't close, and he lives many states away. How much money should I be sending? I was thinking like $30, but I wondered if that seemed too cheap and if I need to up it to $50?

What is the going rate these days for graduating?

I'd do $50 if you could swing it, more because $30 is a random amount. Otherwise I'd do $25.

I feel like it's regional like weddings. I would probably send $25 unless I really liked the kid/was close, but I'm in LCOL. I remember getting fivers for my graduation, but that was, sadly, long ago.

A card from a cousin that you aren't close with seems a little gift grabby. I probably would ignore it but if you were planning on doing something any way, any amount above $20 in a card is fine. In the past, I have done something like a check for 20.12 to be cute for kids I wasn't close with.
