Just wondering if anyone here has hypothroidism and whether you take generic or brand? I had a total thyroidectomy this past summer because they found I had thyroid cancer. Now without a thyroid, I've easily put on 5lbs. Is there hope? I read people swear by brand (Synthroid, etc) vs generic. I am currently on generic and I'm still pretty tired and not losing weight despite how active I've been and how healthy I've been eating. Thoughts?

I've been on levothyroxine (generic Synthroid) for 3 years now. Before I was diagnosed, I was completely exhausted all of the time, anxious, and just an all-around mess. I didn't have the great weight loss that others have experienced (my friend lost about 20lbs after she started meds), but because I finally had the energy to care, it was a lot easier to focus on exercise and cleaning up my diet.

I'm on levothyroxine. As soon as I went on it I lost about 8 lbs (I only had 15 to lose). I think it was because I took it at night and on an empty stomach so no late night snacks.
1.5 years later I'm down more than those last 15lbs, I don't want to lose anymore.
