Specificallynumber 2. I bring her in with me, because I dont want her crawling and climbing and falling out in the living room. (she climbs on everything, toys, she pulls up on everything then falls) But even in the bathroom, I have to give her something she isnt allowed to stop her from trying to climb the walls ( and fall) And yes, I let her fall, but in hard areas, she always falls on her head!
PNP when they were younger... there was no way i was dragging twins + older brother into the bathroom with me... so i'd put the twins into the PNP and let older brother play - and be as quick as possible.
Now, they are 3, 3 and 5- so i just go and pray they don't start fighting while i'm in there
Do you have a bumbo? DD1 is potty training right now so we're in the bathroom a lot. I bring DD2 in with us and stick her in the bumbo with a toy she doesn't see much so it really interests her and she doesn't try to get out of the bumbo.
Typically just went. There wasn't too much he could get into while I was in there. Or I went while he was sleeping (typically can time #2 more than #1). In a pinch, there is always the crib/pnp, which he wouldn't like, but crying for a couple of minutes won't scar him permanently. And being able to go in the bathroom by myself typically results in a quicker trip than trying to keep him out of things while trying to go.
I just go. The house is childproofed. If she falls when I'm gone, then I deal with it when I get back.
It's 90 seconds.
you walk to the bathroom, poop, wipe, wash hands, all in 90 seconds?? that's something else
while i don't take a long tiem to poop - it's certainly long enough for my kids to get into trouble... most homes are not totally child proof to the point that a child is totally safe alone- esp a young toddler.
putting into a PNP or crib, exersaucer/jumperoo, etc = safest... esp since many people take a lot longer than 90 seconds to take a shit
you walk to the bathroom, poop, wipe, wash hands, all in 90 seconds?? that's something else
Yeah. Pooping doesn't take any longer than peeing for me.
many times it doesn't for me either.... BUT - considering I sell a drug for constipation and know what a HUGE problem it is in this country - there are billions of people that take more than 90 seconds to poop, constipated or not

This thread took a funny turn :-)
Hanna -- I always used a baby containment device at that age. Bouncy seat when she was little, the jumperoo later. I didn't have my whole house baby proofed until she was walking. Also, I have two dogs, so I couldn't just leave her on the floor of the living room or something.
Once she was a little older, I'd make her go into my bedroom, I'd lock that door so she couldn't open it, then I'd go into the bathroom and do my thing (I did this for showering too). My bedroom and bathroom were babyproofed, and I could see her from the shower.
I put the baby in his crib, or pack and play with toys or his mobile on, and I usually put the toddler in his room where he has books to look at. I obviously cant leave them alone together even though we do have a very childproofed home.
I honestly can't remember doing anything special for any of my 3 kids. I'd probably leave them (if they were not mobile or the room was baby safe) or take them in with me. Or tell my older kid to keep an eye on the baby. I never used a PNP much--my kids always had access to the room for the most part--the only thing I really worried about was stairs which I did use baby gates for.
My bathroom came with a built-in PNP. They called it a "bathtub". Stick baby in it (dry of course), it already has toys so it's perfect.
But usually I am in the fast-pooper, leave the the kid on the floor for 90 seconds camp.
Yep. Our toilet is right next to the tub so I could stop him from climbing out while seated. Now that he's older I just bring him in there and let him play with some tub toys on the floor.

I bring him into the bathroom with me. Same thing when I shower. I've had to adjust what I give him to play with or where I place him as he's gotten more mobile, but otherwise it's not a big deal.
Put him in RnP and brought that into the bathroom when he was little. Now he's ok in the PnP w/ toys in the adjacent room, i just leave the bathroom door open so i can hear him. Our house was built in the 1800s so all the fixtures are um.... fragile. When he's older I'm sure he will be able to pull on the toilet and break it rather easily. When he's a toddler, i'll probably lock him in his room while i go. I always shower when he naps.
So far, Dh has always been home when I need to do my business
When she was that size, I held her on my knee. Or left her on the floor. If she freaked out, then floor of the bathroom. I like the idea of inside the tub. However, she has been trying to stand in the tub and seems very interested in the faucets. I have to get one of those faucet covers.
I bring her with me and leave her in our bedroom or leave her in the living room (where she usually just follows me). Usually my husband is here and e watches her.
When I nannied I would usually just bring them in the bathroom with me. (Assuming they were mobile and needed to be watched.) If they weren't happy to be scooped up and relocated for a few minutes - oh well.
I use the hallway bathroom, close all the doors to the other rooms and leave the bathroom door open and usually she just comes and hangs out in the hallway out side the bathroom sometimes she plays. If it gets too quiet I call her name and she comes to see me.
