I need living room furniture - sofa, chairs, coffee table, end tables - and I got a coupon for Wayfair. Some of the stuff looks nice but there are mixed reviews and I feel a little anxious buying furniture without touching it or seeing it in person. Anyone had experience with this?
ETA or other suggestions for affordable nice furniture? I love Ikea but their sofas are too modern and minimalist for my style.
I have been looking at their stuff too but also feel nervous for the reason you listed. I just bought a Pier 1 sofa (the Alton one) that I like, not sure if it is the style you want. Take another look at Ikea. Have you seen their Ektorp and Stocksund models? I don't like modern and I like those. Ektorp is fantastic, we have owned pieces of it for years and we always get compliments (we have it in white), and I have been eyeing Stocksund - it is pretty new and a very traditional style.
I have a quilt from there. It was overpriced and the quality is so so. They seem to carry many home items that Walmart does so I've always wondered if they are owned by Walmart.
Other places: overstock, crate and barrel (though they are WAY overpriced too), Home Decorators, etc. We just got a new couch from a local place that was actually custom made. It is 100 times better and more comfortable and also cheaper than our crate and barrel one. I would suggest checking local furniture sources for couches.
I've only purchased a rug from them. But I have a friend that bought a desk that came with a dent in the corner. She called customer service and they sent her a second one, free of charge, and let her keep the first one.

They sell furniture from a lot of different manufacturers so it's likely hit or miss. Most of the stuff comes unassembled. We bought DS1's bedroom furniture from there. The price was good and overall we are happy with it, but I'm not expecting it to last forever. We had a few issues with putting it together, but dealt directly with the manufacturer and they were awesome with replacing pieces and sending us missing parts.

We bought a bathroom vanity/sink + mirror from there and are really happy with it. As a PP mentioned, they sell many brands so it's probably more dependent on the specific brand than it being from wayfair.
We did have an issue with the mirror being smashed when it arrived, but wayfair sent a new one pretty quickly and didn't give us a hard time at all.
They usually have some kind of 10% off code, so make sure you look for one of those.
Also make sure you read the shipping details. Our item shipped free but because it was large it came on a truck rather than via fedex or ups. The fine print said we needed to pay extra to have it removed from the truck. We didn't do that because DH was going to come home from work to move it (he works nearby), but the drivers took it off the truck for me anyway and seemed shocked that it would be an option not to do so. They put it in our front yard and didn't bring it inside the house, though.
We have a very nice Kingsize bed from there - no complaints, looks great, easy to put together, good quality.
Also ordered a leather sofa for my music studio. Looks great. Is tiny. If I sit on it, it looks like a childs sofa lol.
If you have a problem, the customer service is excellent.
I would say the quality is usually like the good Ikea (Ikea has 2 quality levels - surprisingly good, and falls to pieces because someone out a cup on in). Wayfair is surprisingly good.
We got a changing table and coat rack. Both fine/nice. I found the best sheets for deep pocket mattress there. The only sheets that have never ripped on our pillow top mattress.
Thanks all! H is skeptical of ordering a sofa online without sitting on it, but I think we're going to give it a try. I found a set I love for a great price.
We purchased a couch earlier this year. The couch showed up without its feet (they were supposed to be packed in the couch) we had to wait a week for replacements to arrive.
The arms of the couch are poorly cushioned, other than that it is wearing decently.
I would purchase furniture from them in the future. I like what they carry.
I've gotten a few things from there. I love the lights in our dining room. The blinds I got more recently are wonderful but one came in the wrong color and two were missing hardware.
It's good stuff overall and their customer service is awesome if there are problems.
Joybird has 20% off for Black Friday, their stuff is mostly midcentury modern but it's super cute AND you can pick from about a million different fabrics.
Crate and barrel outlet is good. Also if you like something from c&b and they have it in stock already made you can get it for like 50% off. Their regular prices are expensive bc everything is made to order.
