I'm planning to get a real Christmas tree this year for my new place; nothing crazy huge. Is this something you think I can physically do on my own? It would have to be tied to the top of my car.
It looked the trees at Costco are being sold bound up but I didn't see anyone helping with the securing/loading; looked they customers were doing that themselves.
Do you know of any places that would be most helpful and most economical? Maybe Home Depot?
I can probably get a friend to help me but then I need to work around their schedules and I'd prefer to just go this weekend when I have the time.
I've gotten smaller trees on my own. I bet you could do it. Make sure to have a tarp to put on your car before you put the tree on top for scratches and sap.
In my experience, Costco employees are always willing to help you load. I bet they would help with a Christmas tree if you asked at the customer service desk. Or maybe a small independent lot, though that might be tough on a weekend.
Yep - I did it, you can too! I go to our local tree/nursery place and they load it on the car and tie it down for you. A smallish tree shouldn't be too hard to get off the car and get into your place. And then in a few weeks, it'll be much lighter when you remove it.
I've done it before. I went to Home Depot. They had a plastic sheet to put on top of my car to protect it, and they sent someone out to help me tie it down. I'm planning to get a real tree again this year, but I think I'll get a smaller one. I don't want to worry about struggling to get it up and down the stairs.
I've found private little places much more helpful in loading the tree onto the car.
this .. I had a real tree the first xmas after the split and the guys at the tree lot were more than happy to help me load the tree !
Wrangling it into the tree stand was a craptastic experience and from that point on .. I brought the stand w me and had the guts out the tree in the stand ...
You can do it. A lot of the tree farms and big box stores like home depot etc alike will Def help you get that sucker on top of the car. Just don't get something too huge. Wear protective gloves!
I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.
