I just went through the mail and got a letter from my RE's office, w/ the pricing for IVF.
$12,500 for the basics (after a 15% discount) $3,000 - $7,000 for meds $3,550 - potential misc charges
So at the bare minimum, it will be $15,500, but it could be up to $23,500.
I just want to cry. One minute, I think ok, lets do this. Than the next minute, I freak out. What if it doesn't work? I don't think we could afford multiple cycles and I don't know if H agree to do more than one. I am just so angry and bitter about all of this.

I'm really sorry. Does your RE have any type of guarantee plan--where you pay a discounted rate up front for x number of cycles and would then qualify for some sort of refund if they didn't work?
Freedom Fertility (online, and reputable!) has deeply discounted cash pricing on meds.
We just laid out a chunk for a cycle as well, as if infertility on its own isn't upsetting enough. It totally sucks and makes me so angry that we can't do this for free like others.

I'm sorry
I fear we can't have kids at all. While we were on vacation I got my period after a failed IUI and they didn't want to start another cycle of meds for IUI because my lining was still too thin. So they don't think Clomid was cause and it could be my body. Great. From what I've read there is little you can do to thicken a naturally thin lining. We meet with our RE again on Wednesday to decide what our next step will be. I am so over it at this point.
yellowbrkrd - I am so sorry. I was thinking of you the other day and wondered if you have updated.
My clinic does have a shared risk program, but we haven't talked about it yet. Per the website, I don't think I will qualify, due to the BMI requirement. I am working to lose weight, but I am not sure that this will be an option. :-(
Thanks everyone. I feel like I only ever vent on this board, but no one IRL even knows that we are TTC, so I have no one to talk to. Plus, H is having a hard time w/ the MFI, so he doesn't like to talk about it often.
NQB, I know you mentioned that you were on BCP. What are the next steps for your IVF?
I'm so sorry, Kara. That's awful. Big hugs to you. I knwo that feeling and it is awful. When we were TTC DD our RE told us about a grant at the time for families in NYS making under a certain income- maybe there are some programs like that where you are? If we can't get a successful IUI in the next 2 rounds I think we're going to have to call it quits b/c we can't justify putting all that money on the line for something that may not work. (although once I'm in that situation I may chage my mind). Today I was talking to my friend who is PG with her 3rd child and she was complaining about how expensive three kids are going to be (as in cruise vacations for family of 5, making sure all kids have brand new PBK furniture, etc) and I just wanted to say "Hey, at least you got PG for free."
I'm so sorry! It does suck and seems so unfair that IVF should cost so much. Our insurance didn't cover anything for our cycle. We were so very fortunate that it worked the first time for us -also had MFI issue. I did get most of my meds from a pharmacy in the UK that my RE recommended and it saved quite a bit. Ivfmeds.com. ((hugs))

When I get my period I go in for baseline. Then I start Menopur/Gonal F and eventually Cetrotide. It's the antagonist protocol. Retrieval and transfer hopefully the end of September.
I went through Cornell for our last IVF and I don't think even they were quite that expensive. That seems really high.
That being said - check w/ your insurance about some of it. Even when my insurance didn't cover "IVF" - they covered the meds and the bloodwork (which there is a lot of!).
It is only a portion of the bill - but at the same time, every little bit helps.

I know that really sucks. It just eats me up that most insurance doesn't cover IF. We were just quoted similar costs a few weeks ago for IVF (except that the basic part was $15K) b/c we're having trouble TTC#3 and our insurance doesn't cover a single thing. It's so heartbreaking that what so many people get for free requires so much time, energy, and money for so many couples.
