I can't tell you how many times I hear guys I work with use the argument that they feel they have to "protect" women they serve with, and in a POW situation might do something dumb because they would be trying to protect a female service member. Or that they don't think women should "have" to be in combat, or should be "put" into combat. These are guys that I have personally served with in a combat role!!!! My response? "Don't let your hang-ups limit other people's opportunities."

I could hug Ash Carter right now.
