He hasn't said much in the way of actual words yet because of being born with a cleft lip and palate. He has had 2 surgeries to close his lip and palate. He starts speech therapy in a couple months because of the cleft palate and having to close the muscle that allows him to make certain sounds. We were told that one of the hardest sounds for him to make would be the "d" sound. Well tonight we were sitting on the couch an he pointed to my H's chair and said "dada" for the first time! He has overcome so much in his short life and I'm so proud of him for it.
Congratulations! My little sister was born with a fully cleft palate. She did require some speech therapy when she was young, but she quickly made up for the time that she was delayed (and my parents' phone bills prove it
