My weekend was good, I kept busy. I worked on the cake Friday/Saturday and went to J's grandpa's birthday party on Saturday.
Sunday was cool most of the day, 89°, so I did some yard work. I cut down and dug out the roots of a bougainvillea plant, well two that have been growing out of control on a rotting trellis and then trimmed a tree.
Saturday we went to Ikea and got a new kitchen table and chairs. the chairs are unfinished so I have to do some sanding and staining now. Ick. But the price was right and it is the perfect size for us so I am happy.
yesterday was home doing laundry and getting ready for the week. Annie has a doctors appointment on Wednesday. ( her three year check.. her clinic is waaaayy behind for May babies because of all the camp and school physicals) Then I think we will be going to Sesame place Thursday. I am happy when I can get everrything I am going to need together early.

Friday: I met up with my bff and her two kids at a mall. We had dinner and then the kids played outside while my friend and I caught up on things. After that I went to A's to meet her when she got home late from work.
Saturday: A and I had brunch and then she got packed to leave for a weeklong business trip and we talked and just enjoyed each other's company while she prepped. Afterwards we drove to my place and had dinner at a new place nearby. Then we called it an early night.
Sunday: A left early to catch her flight. I fell back asleep and dozed until mid-morning and got some much needed rest. I spent the rest of the day putzing around the house, doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc.
Friday night we went for Chipotle, came home, packed, and L worked after the kids went to bed.
Saturday morning we had to be up at 4:30am to catch our flight. Oof. But we were here by lunchtime and the weather was amazing (mid 80s with a beautiful breeze.) We went to lunch, went to the beach for a bit, went to one of my favorite restaurants and had wings and beer while overlooking the ocean. Stopped and got snowcones for the kids.
Sunday we woke up to Carter with a fever (because 90% of the time, the kids get sick on our vacations!) The kids stayed with my dad while met a few of my high school best friends for breakfast. It was glaringly obvious how divergent our lives have become over the past 20y. Carter had perked up thanks to Tylenol so we took the kids to a minor league baseball game. Came home and went back for wings and beer, jumped waves in our clothes, and stopped for ice cream for the kids.
Today Carter was fine, but it was POURING. Went to the mall, went to lunch, and then took the kids to see a movie. Carter's fever returned so we went home. L gave him nighttime cold/cough medicine by accident, so he passed out and slept till I woke him 3h later. Thankfully, it cleared up so after dinner we took the kids for ice cream in their pjs.
Friday afternoon there was a party at the girls' daycare. It was Rosebud's last day so it was emotional...her teacher cried which pretty much broke my heart But after that I went to happy hour with some girl friends and had a great time - much needed considering its been...oh I dont know...YEARS...since i've been to happy hour.
Saturday morning I took the big kids to the gym and had a nice run. I did a practice 5k and it felt really good. Then we met up with my parents for Rosebud's school orientation. Met her teachers and checked out her school. It was emotional but went really well - the school was beautiful, everyone was so nice, and she's excited. Grabbed some ice cream then headed to a friend's bday party thinking it would be easy sailing from there. Moms hang out, kids run around, great. Except Sprout lost his shit out of the blue (conveniently during the singing of 'Happy Birthday' so the family's home movie of their kid blowing out the candles now has a psychotically screaming Sprout voice over. lovely). And that day ended with an epic meltdown including him unbuckling himself from his carseat and throwing himself around the van while I was driving on the HIGHWAY.
Sunday morning Andrea took Rosebud and Daisy to meet up with a friend and check out touch a truck while I cleaned the house. They had a blast and I was bummed to miss their happy little faces driving the trucks. When they got home I packed them up and headed to the Boston GTG. It was a very nice girls trip and we always love seeing the beantown crew!
Monday I was off with Rosebud and we spent the day playing and running errands. Its so easy to spend time with her and I love our converstations. she's a very cool little bug.
