Pom and raangoli , we seem to have lucked out there. HD and Sears both have a washer that's about $250 off. DH said he likes the one at HD better, and we're moving our weekly schedule around to go look at it tonight. Fingers crossed it's there, and that install isn't too much of a PITA. Because our current one is dead as a doornail, with a load of towels and a tub full of water.
Ours died with a tub full of lint from washing a washable rug. I think DH just kept putting a towel in to soak up water and ringing it out. We did free delivery and haul away from lowes. Good luck! Lowes had next day delivery so we went with them.

We'll likely use the shop vac to get the majority of the water out, and go from there. Good idea on the towel and wringing for the rest of it. Should be fun :\
Lowes unfortunately didn't have any washers that turned me on, and they're sort of on our shit list anyway (along with Sears, we're running out of appliance stores!). Crossing my fingers that HD will come through.
Update: We bought a new washer at Home Depot, and it will be here next Tuesday. There was one that we were considering that we could have taken home tonight, but that would have meant renting a truck, wrangling a machine into it, and figuring out what to do with the 5yo. No thank you. Fortunately we have more than enough clothes to get us through
I am really proud of DH. He typically needs to spend a lot of time analyzing all the angles of a major purchase. He managed to decide in about 20 minutes, and I think we'll both be happy with our choice.

This is exactly my H, too. Sometimes it drives me nuts, sometimes I love it because he does all the work and I just get to enjoy the best product for best value. I've been training him to understand though that sometimes those extra few days of research isn't really worth saving 10 more bucks
This sounds so familiar! It is why my parents never buy anything, period. My dad has to research EVERYTHING!
