I don't think we'll keep looking. This was the third or fourth company we contacted. We live in a small, remote town that happens to be growing right now, so it's hard to find people to do construction. This company has the major advantage of handling every stage of the construction. We could potentially hire independent contractors for each step - drywall, carpet, painting, etc. - but there's no guarantee that, once each contractor's schedule is taken into account, it would get done any faster.
cactuscookie that's awful. Can you get a handyman or something to do at least the baby's room and maybe kitchen? (not sure the extent of the damage)
I wish we could do something like this, or at least ask the contractors to do the parts of the house we use the most first, and then leave the two extra bedrooms for later. But I doubt it's worth the lack of efficiency. They might as well rebuild all the walls while they have the materials there, and then do all the painting, etc.
