This weekend is going to be a little crazy for me and I am trying to figure out what I should do for Mr. Jiggles. Here is the situation: Friday - I am getting off work early, so I am planning on heading up to Vegas' house earlier than I normally would have. I am staying the night and I had hoped to maybe go shopping at a store up in his area since there aren't any locations more convenient to me. I also have a holiday party Saturday night, so while I would be home for a few hours Saturday, I will be gone most the time.
So I was thinking of maybe boarding him, at least Friday-Saturday afternoon, although the place I usually board him is his vet, so he is in a little kennel. But he does get three walks and all that. But if he is going to be cooped up anyways, maybe keeping him home where he can roam around would be better.
What I really need to do is find myself a dog walker so that I can have best of both worlds in these situations...but I don't think I can make that happen by Saturday.
So any suggestions? Pets make things so great, but can also make things complicated sometimes.
I use a "doggy daycare" instead of straight boarding. They put the dogs in playgroups during the day and then have "rooms" rather than kennels for the dogs. It's more expensive, but when my pups come back, they are always exhausted from all the playing and super well behaved, so, worth it!
I think it really depends on your dog. If your dog is playful and likes to interact with other dogs - boarding with a doggy daycare is a good option. If your dog is more comfortable in your own home and with people, a friend coming over/dog walking service may be a better option.
