Anyone live there? There is a chance we will be relocated there within the next year or so. H's office would be North East of the city. What are some good areas to look at houses? We are just expecting our first child now, so school district would be somewhat important but not for another 5 years.
I have been there a couple times since we have a couple friends there, but I was never thinking about living there when we were visiting! Feel free to msg me if you don't want info out there. Thanks for the help!
I do, although I have only lived here since last summer. I can message you this afternoon when I get off of work. The damn Internet in our office has been out for 3 days and it's a lot of info to type from my phone!
Are you getting a relocation package? I'm asking bc you may want to consider renting for a year before you buy so you can get to know the city.

Probably, details havent been discussed yet but every other time we have moved, we have gotten one. We rented for a year the last time we moved and it worked out well so we may do that again. I am just trying to get an idea of neighborhoods, etc. House budget will probably be 300-400K, thanks!

I live in Charlotte area! Technically I live NE in Concord, but the part of concord that is west of I85. I work in Huntersville, and there are lots of nice neighborhoods between Huntersville and Concord in between I77 and I85. Davidson and Cornelius north of Charlotte are really nice too.
Directly East of uptown Charlotte is not a great area to live. There are lots of nice areas South, but it may be too far with your Dhs work.

I live there right now. I absolutely love it. We are about 2 miles outside of uptown and while the neighborhood might have a little more crime than Huntersville or Ballantyne, we love the neighborhood and the walkability to shops and restaurants. But I don't think it has more crime, it's just a perception. CMS schools are always a mess, but you can get into some better districts. If you like the suburbia feel, Highland Creek might be a good place to look. It has good schools and should be a decent commute for your husband. Charlotte has some really good restaurants and with the addition of Johnson and Wales a couple years ago, I think it is only going to get better. Let me know what type of house you like and what is an okay commute for your husband and I can think of some neighborhoods to check out. Allentate.com is a decent online resource for the area. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

We are very happy with Charlotte. We live south of the city (we are actually just over the SC border). I am not familiar with the north side of the city at all. Good luck!

Hey, I just saw this while lurking. What neighborhood are you in? I live in Elizabeth.
