We are going to look at Christmas lights tonight in a neighborhood that is about 30 minutes from our house. We are going to a restaurant first that is 5 minutes away from the Christmas lights, so I will make sure DD uses the potty before we leave but I have no clue how long it'll take to walk this block with all the lights.
My thoughts are: 1. Put her in a pull up and pray she can hold it for 2 hours, or change her into a new pull up if she has an accident. She hasn't been in a pull up during the day in about 2 weeks. 2. Keep her in undies and high tail it back to the restaurant if she has to go potty
DH's thought: 3. Keep her in undies and bring a bucket, her toilet ring and a garbage bag and have her go in the back of our SUV

I would do a pull up. We were flying last week and I put him on one both flights. He didn't pee in it but when we were starting to land and he told me he had to pee I didn't have to freak the fuck out.
ETA: I would still try to get her to a bathroom if she says she needs to go, it just won't be as much of a panic for you.
We drove to the light display from the restaurant. If she would have to use a potty, it would have been about a 10 minute drive.
I kept her in undies until we left the restaurant and then I put a pull up on her. She held it until we got home, so it was about 2 hours that she held it! But I do need to buy a portal potty ASAP.
This was a life saver for me. I kept a bjorn potty in the back of my car for a good year after my girls were pt'd. Honestly, it was sometimes just easier to use vs. using sketchy public restrooms.
Car potty for sure! My kids are 6 and 3 and we have had one for years. With my youngest just 3 mos it will still be in there for years to come
What do you do with the pee?
We have the potette plus. You buy special plastic bags for it that have an absorbent pad at the bottom. The pads aren't very big, but they do absorb some of the pee. If I'm by a trash can, I just tie it up and throw it away (it doesn't leak). If I'm not right by a trash can and I have to keep it in my car for a bit, I tie up the potette bag, then put it in a dog waste bag and tie that. I've never had a leak that way.
There's a different travel potty that you place a diaper in. I thought about getting that one, but I was afraid that DD1 would regress on the potty training. It probably would have been fine. But -- I used the travel potty for DD1 long after she was done with diapers, so it would have been a pain to have to buy diapers just for the travel potty. The potette bags are cheaper -- plus, in a pinch you could just use a plastic grocery bag and a folded paper towel instead of the "official" replacement bags.
I keep the potette plus in my car. My 5 year old recently used it in a pinch lol.
Instead of the replacement bags I use a target bag with a maxi pad. Then I tie it off and put it in another target bag and throw it away as soon as I can.
For pee, I always have a plastic water bottle in my car for DS.

Dump it in an "off the path" place - like at a tee ball game behind the bushes at the way back of the field or somewhere like that. We had the potette but it's soooo tiny that my kids always felt unstable in it, plus then you have to make sure you have the bags which is a pain to remember.
