CEO of a former company just resigned due to personal conduct reasons. Friends and I are speculating as to reasons why. This person took over earlier this year when the previous CEO retired. I'm shocked and thinking of all kind of juicy reasons why this happened.
*the company in financial trouble and this is a way out without admitting he wasn't going to be able to do what he wanted to do as CEO? *hostile work environment/generally poor views of women's capabilities in that particular industry *didn't want to give up smoking weed *affair discovered by spouse, messy divorce on the horizon
The first to are "real" speculation, the second two are more jokes/TIC.

Given the tech industry this could probably be said of many CEOs.

Oh sure. But I think that given the (legitimate!) higher scrutiny lately, if somebody came forward with something really damning, I could see him or the board saying "It's 2015. we're just not going to deal with this. go away".
It might also be a cover for other personal issues. Like he has a twentysomething kid who is doing drugs or shoplifting and he just doesn't want to be CEO
But if I had to bet I'd put my money on being a raging tech misogynist.

From my experience, it was almost always related to sexual harassment. DUI would not be a blip on the radar for an exec, and substance abuse is ADA. Sexual harassment puts the company at risk. So it is a done deal. Can't have that.
