Do I engage? Re: Same-sex Obama declaration

So the husband of one of my cousins posted this on his Facebook:

I don't agree with Same Sex Marriage or attraction, but I also don't think banning it will stop Homosexuality either. It hasn't worked for robbery or assault.

I'm trying to decide how futile it would be to engage him - on Facebook - when I see this dude less than once per year - and I KNOW with 100% certainty this will draw forth the sanctimonious relatives out of the woodwork who are of the hateful type of Christian who think their shit doesn't stink because they darken the doors of a religious institution with regularity.

I may wait and see what else unfolds or if anyone comments on it. Tact would need to be my friend.

Um, this. Andplusalso, just because a state votes to not allow gay marriage, it doesn't mean that all homosexual sex/attraction in that state is suddenly going to stop.

My immediate reaction has been to not engage. Where I live, people just kind of assume that you're against same-sex marriage because it's the bible belt and they've been making offhanded comments all day. I don't feel like getting into it with anyone right now.
