I'm trying to get myself ready on this 3-day potty training to start Friday. I want to read the literature again maybe 2 more times. It's Monday and I don't feel ready. Uggh! I'm also trying to find activities to do so DD and I won't go crazy stuck at home all weekend.
I don't know why but I'm nervous about this thing. LOL.
Anyone else planning on potty training this weekend?
well, she is completely pee trained but we need to work on poop- that's hit or miss. We're having a "goodbye pull-ups" party with cupcakes, so hopefully this will be it.
I love the three day method and can't say enough good things about it! My suggestions are to go all in. Get rid of any diapers and pull ups you have. They are a crutch you don't need. Also, the book says to pump them full of juice, but I didn't. YOu will be surprised how many time a day they go, it is just in little tiny increments. It takes them a few days to figure out how to hold it to do more at once. We went through 12 pairs of undies the first day, 3 the second, and she was potty trained after that. Also my tip is to make the bed twice. Mattress cover, sheet, mattress cover, sheet. That way when she has an accident at night , you aren't trying to remake the bed half asleep. Good luck!

I know very little about this method but I'm interested. How do you know your kid is ready for this? DD refuses to sit on a potty. She's being stubborn; she knows what it's for.
Also, what do you do if you have a lot of carpeting in the house? Just plan to rent a Rug Doctor after the weekend?
When we did it, we didn't follow the directions exactly. I did set a time the first 2 days...just in longer increments the second day. We also kept the pull-ups for nap & night time because I was not changing sheets everyday.
We did have carpet and put blankets all over the living room.
This method worked great for peeing, but it took DD 6 more months to finally poop consistently on the toilet.

Wow! That sounds awesome. Hope DD will be that easy/quick. When she went back to daycare, what did you tell her teacher? When I talked to DD's teachers, they said they would ask her to use the potty every hour. I'm thinking I should ask them to just say "Tell me if you need to use the potty" every hour instead of "It's time to use the potty." Am I right?

Based on the literature, any kid who can tell you what he/she wants is ready.

How long until your DD stopped using pull-ups for nap/night time? I plan to train DD for nap/night time too. But I'm willing to go back to pullups if it doesn't happen.
DD's daycare was all about doing what every they could to help with PT. On Thursday she was there and in diapers and on Monday she was there in undies. I don;t think she had any accidents for a long time, but we kept a change of clothes there just in case. I just told them what we were saying and how we were saying it, and they did it. So yes, reminders to "tell me when you have to go potty". But I would ask them to do it more often then once an hour. I'd ask for at least every thirty minutes or so.

She only needed them for a month nor two, but nighttime peeing is more developmental than training.
