We decided to host Christmas since my family is so small now and no one did anything together for Thanksgiving. We all sort of did our separate things and that bummed me out.
My dad, his GF, my sister, and her BF are coming. Yes, this is the married guy who she cheated on her husband with and has been with for probably a year or so now. She is legally separated and he is not, but he has been "living apart" from his wife for a while (supposedly). He is more tolerable than her ex-husband, but we still are guarded with him. Do I have to get this dude a gift? If I do, WTF do I buy him? A retainer for a divorce attorney? :-#

Gotta love family drama.
If everyone else is exchanging gifts, the nice thing to do is to include him. I would get something like chocolate and nuts. Something generic that doesn't require much thought or money.

Yeah, I was thinking like a Starbucks gift card or something. It gets more dramatic, he lives 6 hours away where his son resides and I guess he won't be seeing him for Christmas.

...not seeing him because it's not his holiday or, uh, by choice? The latter makes it even worse.
