I'm heading to Bed, Bath and Beyond and really need a digital meat thermometer since the ones with the gauges I have are horrible. Can someone recommend a good one?
I liked them -- you can stick the probe into the meat (or whatever you're cooking), and the wire extends out of the oven and the display has a magnet on it so it can stick to the front of the oven.
Unfortunately, S.O. keeps using it while broiling meat and doesn't bother to keep the wire away from the heating element. So, I have to go out and get a third thermometer.
I think I need to look into the wireless ones that PP mentioned.

The only "wireless" ones I've found still have a wire that goes from the meat probe outside of the oven to a transmitter, but they also have a portable receiver type thing that you can carry around so you don't have to run back to the oven to see the temp. (If that makes sense?)
I've yet to find any that are truly wireless, with some kind of meat probe that doesn't need to wire coming out of the oven. Catlawdy, if you have found something like that, please post the link and will love you forever. lol

I had the taylor probe one linked above and it eventually stopped working despite not melting anything on the broiler. the probes just tend to go tits up with no warning.
We bought a replacement normal one from BB&B and it takes like 3 years to actualy read the temp, and it annoyed me to have to stand there with the oven door open the whole time.
And i love it. It reads really quickly and the probe is super skinny so it doesn't leave giant holes in my food. MH wanted a thermopen (same manufacter) but I told him to get a grip because they cost $80+.
