Do you have any gourmet stores in your area that sell baskets, or package baskets you create? You'd have to mail it yourself, but it would be high quality food.
We've been ordering from thatscaring.com and get great feedback about them. My dad is typically pretty critical but loved his basket last year (DH ordered, I think we got him the muffin/coffee box).
I particularly love what they do-for every box sold, they provide a weekend's worth of meals for a child in need.
My mother loves Harry & David pears (surely, I told you guys about the time she called them when she got a box without the gold-wrapped one *face palm*), so I send them often and they're always appreciated, but my gosh, they are sending me like an email a day right now. On the plus side, if you go with them, that probably means I have a coupon code to share.
I like making my own from local places when I have the time. Or buying from them -- for example, we have a local sausage/charcuterie company and they have baskets that you can order from them. My third option is to figure out what I'm looking for (like my dad likes jerky) so I google and found companies that would do a jerky of the month with good reviews.

Dean & Deluca has one that you can pick the items yourself. It was pretty simple and allowed much more personalization than most. I'm pretty sure the recipients loved it.
I agree with this. They have really nice baskets. Although they are local to me and I never shipped them very far. I believe they can ship throughout the US, though.
I've always heard good things about Harry & David. If you've got a Costco membership we've had really good luck with their Fruit & Company Fruit Towers, which they sell this time of year. My grandmother got some last year that had a rotten apple, and the company sent out a new set of apples for her, which was nice. We've been getting them for five or six years, at least 4 a year for grandmothers, and that was the first time we had something wrong.

Thank you! An old coworker used to go home to Lebanon and always bring back something super similar to this. I've been looking for a replacement, they were so delicious!
