We used to be such an active board on TN. Then when we migrated here, I feel like the board took a nose dive after also losing major contributors. I know I was more active back in the day and once I got overseas the 12+ hour time difference was too much to keep up with. I feel like such a stalker now since I hardly post but keep up with a few boards! I sometimes wonder where people are and what they are up to. I know I don't feel like I have much to contribute since I divorced military even though I'm a NAF employee and have deployed to combat and non-combat zones now. I really dropped off once I was 12+ hrs time difference than you all and had shitty internet. I miss our military family we used to have here. Any one want to do a catch up post and tell people who you were/where you are currently?
I joined TN nearly 7 years ago! I was married to AF. We married before basic. I was stationed with GracielouFreebush (if you all remember her) while our husbands went through school. Then we had orders not too far from the training base and I stayed in the area 3 years before divorcing and working overseas for 22 months. Now I'm stationed in CA as NAF. No kids, only two furbabies.
No I'm not a dirty contractor! I'm a Non-Appropriated Funds employee. I am a redheaded stepchild federal employee that works for an entity of the DoD. We employ a handful of military as liaisons. No large amount of money for me. We tap out at the equivalent of the VP's pay, not that I got close. And I paid allll my federal taxes while out there. Went to your namesake's place and helped close a few sites down.
Yeah contractors really make bank if you aren't an OCN contractor. I joke though. I'm LD dating a contractor. They do complain a lot for getting paid what they do... I feel bad for the military counter parts to the contractors because you know the pay variance is huge.
Hi LL, I remember you! I was Gumby22c over on TN. I shortened it here to my current name (or if your on the app then I still show up as that name).
My H is AD AF and we are living in Germany at the moment. We just PCSed here in Sept and are still getting used to the time difference from our family/friends in the states. We just had our first baby, he's 7 weeks today. We also have 4 fur babies, 3 dogs and a cat. I'm a SAHM and just working on putting myself out there and making friends here. I tend to keep to myself and make friends at my job or through my H at previous bases. So I need to change that so I don't alienate myself for the next 3 years. So far we love living here though!
My name is the same. MH is AD AF and we've been married almost 6 years. Three human babies and one fur baby. Here's our Christmas card photo to prove it:
I'm a doula and I teach childbirth education, though I'm on maternity leave until mid-February. We are currently in Arkansas but PCSing in the spring.
I was Sammy0709 on TN. I'm a Navy Corpsman with the respiratory therapist specialty/NEC. My husband is a Greenside Navy Corpsman but he's being medically retired in March. He has a job lined up already which is excellent. I have a MECP package in and I'm waiting for results which should come out in about a month.
I think my name is the same as it was on TN, there might have been a number, though. We PCS'ed from Korea to South Florida over the summer. I cried when we got orders to Korea because I was so scared of the unknown, and cried when we left because we had such an amazing time. I think it gets a bad reputation, but it will probably go down as our best duty station. We went to 9 different countries and caught a serious travel bug.
Now that we're down here, it's been a tough adjustment. We're in the land of the oldz and it's hard to meet people. I thought I scoped out a potential "new friend couple" at the dog park, but upon further inspection, he was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. Scratch that one off the list! I shouldn't complain too much, though, since it's December and still in the 80s!

I completely remember when you went to Egypt and was pregnant for the first time. And all of your emergency evacuation mess!

I'm here. *waves* I mostly lurk on ML and sometimes post on MM Moms. I have two kids now so life is crazy/fun and H is getting out in a few weeks to do ATC for the FAA.
ETA: I clicked over to here to see if anyone was discussing the new season of Serial since it's mil-related!
My screen name has stayed the same, but after nine years in El Paso we finally made a change and PCS'd to the DC area last summer. It was a necessary move for H professionally, but I'm still trying to regain my professional footing. Our boys have both adjusted well, though, which has been wonderful--they're 8 and 5 now.
Oh, and we're nearing the end of the line for H's long-ass contract! Four years and change left, baby!

I don't have friends in SC for similar reasons. I'm trying to be welcoming to H's new subordinate's spouse so we're going out for breakfast tomorrow. I'm like, please don't be a Berner or a Trumper. Or lots of other ers.
If I would've stayed in SC we could have been long but shorter distance than usual friends! Lol.

Hi LL! Thanks for starting this thread! Great idea!
I was Smudge'sMom (or something like that) back in the day. After spending three years in Germany, we moved back to NoVA last winter and DH retired. (He's now "one of those contractors". He's working in the same office he worked in, as a greensuiter, before we moved overseas.) The "transition" has been relatively easy for DH.
DS is nearly 6.5 years old. He loves all things Mine Craft, Star Wars and Lego. He's in a partial immersion German program in the hopes of keeping his second language somewhat functional.
Smudge will turn 9 years old next month. He continues to be spoiled rotten, entitied and annoying yet sweet, endearing and an important part of our family.
I've been dealing with autoimmune issues for the last year and a half. It's made life more difficult but I've made some big lifestyle changes and I'm hopeful that, with time, I'll feel better. Until then, I keep plugging along. And, while it is nice to be back in the States, I miss living is Germany a great deal. We never expected orders overseas, but it was an incredible experience!
I'm also considering some options that could take me from blue to green (Navy to Army). I'm not real keen on my prospective duty stations in the Navy and with H retiring it makes that option more reasonable.

I remember you LL! I was Erik&Afton on TN.
I got my teaching credential and am teaching high school science. Dh used his GI Bill to get a degree in electrical engineering. He got a new job last April and loves it. And other than working on growing our family things are pretty status quo.

wha wha? That's awesome. I have an ATC friend who has an offer letter once he gets out in May-ish time frame. He doesn't know if he has to go to the school house or not. Can you keep me updated on his transition?

I wrote a nice reply then accidentally x'ed out. Anyways i don't think this was my name back on tn but i don't remember. Towards the end i mostly posted on getting pregnant ttc. which is where i mostly post now. H is army, we got married 5 years ago. First duty station was el paso, then we moved to SC where we got stationed with (eodafwife anyone remember her?). Now we are in Az. I work for NAF. H's contract is up in three years! So excited, although if he gets promoted next year he will have to decide if he wants to extend or not. Next year he goes up for e7 but will be in his secondary zone so he says the chances are low he will make the list.
We have two dogs, still no kida. I have become much more of a not participating person since the out last 1.5 years in sc were not great. Now i have a few friends but mostly sterr away from the wives of spouses my h works with, with a few exceptions. A lot of them are very very young and you can tell in tehir thinking. We moved to AZ earlier this year so we haven't been here a year yet. during our move our spaniel got really really sick and ended up being hospitlized at the vet for 5 days while they gave him his meds and a blood transfusion to get better. He ended up having an auto immune disease so we have been dealing with that all this year. Which was fun to deal with during a move, thank goodness H had built in some vacation time with the traveling. Spaniel is doing well now and is off the meds comletely, we are just waiting for his latest blood tests. He goes in every 2-3 months now to get checked for that, and sometimes we bring him in earlier like last month he had an allergic reaction sso we had them draw blood then, and then last week he had blood drawn to recheck it because there was a slightly concerning number on the nov. blood test.
ETA: I posted this on the wrong thread oops. Also I was ksrawr and the actualy sn of the person who moved to the same base in sc as we did was AF_EOD_WIFE

I don't change SNs that often. Kid turned two last month and is my little buddy for what remains of DH's year long IA. All I want for Christmas are DH's (pre-negotiated!) follow on orders because I need to move before my current lease expires and the apartment complex jacks up our rent 25% for month-to-month.
ilovecandy SC is the worst! Were you guys at Jackson?
Shaw. He would be home a few months and gone a few months. We were at shaw 3.5 years h was gone half the time it sucked so bad. At first it wasn't so bad but after 3 years yeh no

I've been to Rockville, SC. We have friends via my husband's MC there. It was beautiful and I really liked it. I can't say I have much other experience with SC though.

Second kid... boy or girl?
Sure! If he received the TOL after applying to the latest prior experience bid earlier this year (not the "street hire" bid), he should not have to go to the school house. (We have heard it's up to each facility if they send them after they're assigned somewhere but none of H's friends have been sent.)
H got his list and now we're waiting to hear which facility he's assigned to so we can make some quick plans and move!
I had the same screen name (plus some numbers). H is in Navy aviation. We have a one year old son now, so I'm doing the SAHM thing. Currently adjusting to being in MD for a couple years.

I had the same screen name. I remember you! And GracieLou! Welcome back!
H is still in the AF, we are PCSing soon, and I got my MA in English this year. Oh and we had a baby. Life has been crazy, so I've mostly been lurking on ML and posting on GotP and MM moms. I do miss the camaraderie we had back at the bad place, but I wasn't a huge poster back then either. I didn't like to play in the drama. Still don't, if I am being honest.

Same screen name.
I moved back to Vegas in January of 2013. We bought a house here and I started grad school that fall.
H got out of the Marines last summer and has been using his GI bill while working at night.
I graduated with my MEd in school counseling in May and have been working as a school counselor/testing coordinator at a high school out here since August.
Hi! I was Lace&Josh on MN. We're back home in MO now, J is out of the USMC and is in law enforcement. I work as a clinical manager in the health care field O just turned 4 and is quite the pistol. I check in from time to time, but also miss our OG's so I usually just click out.

@lemonlover No school house for any of the people who've started in the past few months where my H is now or for any of our friends who've gotten out and started at other facilities. He's lovin' the job on the civilian side too!

Good lord, girl. what board do you chill on now?
My friend was extended in Korea until August! He has to get his physical and medical done by Sept 12th? He hopes to be working by Nov of this year. He is dual facility so I'm hoping he gets where ever he wants! He loves ATC.
