So, I've been having some relatively minor, but annoying, symptoms for the past few months. Bloating, mild pain/pressure in my uterus, slightly irregular periods. I went to my doctor this morning, had an ultrasound, and was told I have a very small uterine fibroid that is causing these symptoms. She recommended a D&C procedure to remove it, with the earliest appointment being in middle January.
My H and I have been trying to conceive for 3 months. I just ovulated this month. There's a possibility I could be pregnant, but of course I won't know for at least 2 weeks.
I have a million thoughts racing through my mind. If I'm pregnant, they obviously won't do the procedure in January. If I'm not pg this month, we won't try in January and I'll go ahead and have the fibroid removed.
I don't know what I'm looking for - thoughts, experiences with fibroids or removal of fibroids, any helpful information? I'm a bit sad that our TTC will be delayed, and also scared about what will happen if I DID happen to get pg this month...will the fibroid get worse or cause problems? Any input appreciated.
I had multiple, very large fibroids when I was TTC the first time. It took over a year for me to conceive, because they basically blocked implantation. My husband referred to them as the "hockey goalie." I still had a few left after the big ones were removed, and I got pregnant the first time after we were allowed to try again (one month later). The remaining ones got larger as my uterus got larger, but didn't cause any problems. They went back down after I gave birth. The surgery was super easy, and I was back at work after a week.
