NO one has gotten me truly fired up, but I always get excited to vote. Probably most excited to vote for Clinton the first time (1992) first time voting, and his was my first support rally.
And yes, I recognize that Mr. Obama was a very exciting candidate, it's more, I am cynical and feel that no matter how much a candidate promises change, unless they have a cooperative Congress, it ain't gonna happen.

2000: frustrated as hell because I was 3 weeks too young to vote against Bush, dude scared me to death 2004: finally get to vote against Bush, didn't feel that strongly about Kerry otherwise 2008: so freaking excited!! 2012: less excited but love voting and Obama 2016: not that excited so far, but haven't been able to get myself worked up about the candidates this far ahead of the primaries, and very distracted and concerned about the Trump show
2004: Excited for Bush 2008: Meh to McCain, I really liked Fred Thompson. 2012: I actually grew to like Mittens. I wish he were running in 2016. 2016: I'm writing in my dream candidate, Richard Riordan.
I don't know who that is, but that's my maiden name! I don't see it that often with people that I'm not related to.
Yeah, this is totally irrelevant to this post, I just got excited.
I've been excited to vote but never excited/thrilled by the candidate. But in my lifetime there has never been a candidate for President that has seen me as equal and deserving of equal rights.
In 2008 I voted for HRC in the primaries for several reasons and that was probably the most excited until now. To cast a vote for someone who believes (at this date in time, I know her past position has been different) that I should have full and equal protections under the law, regardless of my sexuality is something pretty fvcking spectacular.

I think the only person I was EXCITED to vote for was Obama. I volunteered with his campaign, went door to door to get out the vote, made calls, did some computer work on their local DB, etc.
2000 - voted for McCain in the primary, largely because of his work with Feingold. Held nose and voted Bush. Regretted it almost immediately in the whole hanging chad debacle.
2004 - voted for Kerry, but wasn't crazy excited.
2008 - WOOO! HOPE AND CHANGE!
2012 - KOKO Obama. Love you.
ETA: I think I was able to vote in 1996 but considered it too much work to vote by absentee ballot.

I don't think I've ever really been excited to vote. I tend towards more moderate, so I'm not usually thrilled with either the Dem or Republican candidate. This really seems to piss people off, but I would actually prefer to alternate between a Democrat and Republican candidate every four years. I think both parties have strengths and weaknesses, and I think the alternating of power and policy can be healthy. I used to vote in that manner (alternating Dem and Rep), but lately the candidates on both sides have had stances that were deal-breakers for me, so I've voted third party more recently. Gotta be honest--I'm starting to feel a little jaded about that, and wondering if it really makes a difference at all.
