My H has plantar fasciitis, I want him to invest in good running shoes for working out. He usually buys whatever is on sale and then buys insoles but I want him to invest in good running shoes, where can he go to have someone help him pick out the correct shoes for him? TIA.
Have you been to a podiatrist or orthopaedic person? Get him fitted for orthotics. Then they can recommend a brand for their feet. For me, aasics are a good choice.

He can go to a local running store and get an assessment. They will tell him what shoe is best for him, based on their observations. Then he can try several shoes until he finds the best fit. I buy my shoes online at runningwarehouse(dot)com.

He got a rec. to go see a podiatrist from his dr. but can't get in for a couple months so he was hoping to get something sooner than that.

You are in CO, yes? I prefer roadrunner sports because I'm a VIP, so I get 90 days to wear them as much as I want and return or exchange if they aren't comfy. You can join for a dollar online and they will honor it in store, and you get a discount.

Ask around for other recommendations. Heck, post on Facebook and I'm sure your friends will have one. There has to be someone who can see him sooner.

Our insurance requires a referral so we have to go through our Dr or pay more.
If you get a recommendation for someone who can see him sooner, ask your doctor to write a new recommendation. Surely your doctor will refer to more than one podiatrist.
Also, I know everyone says ortho, but I went to PT for my PF and he diagnosed that it was the way I was tilting my pelvis. Had nothing to do with my foot.
A local running store. They'll fit him with shoes based on his stride and pronation. I only buy my running shoes at specialty running stores. I was in love with the Brooks Ghost until they changed the shoes some. I'm now in a Brooks Glycerin. The best thing about going to a running store is that they will let you run in the shoe to see how well it works for you.
Find a running store with a good return policy. A local one in NC gave you 60 days. One in FW didn't have one.
That being said my ex had PF & the Asics Gel Kayanos worked for him. His feet were also flat.
I got a pair of these for Christmas. I'm scared to run in them. I wear the Saucony Guide but don't love them. Glad that he got them at a store with a good return policy!

The only additional piece of information is, and I cannot emphasize this enough, make sure your H does not allow the podiatrist to give him a steroid shot. Nope, nope, nope, when it comes to PF steroid shots are bad, so very, very bad.
