Stbxh finally moves out on January 8. Yay! Both my attorney and therapist separately advised me to take the day off work to be here and have someone else present. My attorney specifically said a constable. Stbxh and I have already had words over his packing some things we had not agreed upon, and he has severe mental illness and has turned violent in the past with others, but never with me.
Did anyone of you do this? Would a friend or a family member suffice? I have an extremely level headed and calm friend who knows stbx I could ask but I don't know if she is available. Funds are low for paying a constable, and frankly, I don't know how to go about even finding one.

you shouldn't have to pay to have a member of LE there to supervise your xh moving out. civil stand-by i think is the term for it. its something i had to keep in mind re xh bc when i had him arrested for violating the RO, he had some items at my place that i eventually gave to his cousin so i wouldn't have to deal w/ him (w/ or w/o a LE member there).

When my X was moving out he had family helping him and I had my mom with me as well. Just the fact that my mom was here kept him from arguing or fighting with me much because he really cares about appearances and he didn't want anyone to know that he was violent (and at that point I hadn't told anyone). If he has mental illness and is unpredictable I think having a LE person there is probably good advice.
