I am so sorry. This is all so overwhelming. My daughter was on the ocsillator vent twice (3 and 5 months old). The last time they talked of putting her on ECMO (heart/lung bypass). She started to improve while on the ocsillator vent so ECMO never happened.
I have heard many stories of ECMO helping little ones. I hope it doesn't come to that though I hope she starts to improve very soon.
How long was she on it each time and for what if you don't mind me asking? She is at 100 percent o2 and are not able to decrease that or the pressure without her blood gases getting worse and her lungs are already leaking in 2 places so this is very dangerous. Thank you so much
I'm so sorry. My girlfriend's daughter was about 3-4 and needed to be on echmo for a viral illness/pneumonia. She did amazingly well and was back to 100%. Hang in there.

The first time, she was on it 3-5 days and, I think, the second time about a week. Like your DD, she was very sick but for different reasons. It was a horrible time and breaks my heart that you are going through this too. She sounds fiesty like my DD and it will serve her well. She will get through this.
ETA: both times she was on it because of chronic lung diease and pulmonary hypertension both related to being a preemie. We did not know about the pulmonary hypertension until she ended up in the PICU. The first time it came up was after a surgery she had to close a hole in her heart (PDA Ligation) but went undiagnoised.
