How much milk does your 1-2 year old drink per day? (total of bm/formula/WCM) I'm mostly wondering about daytime intake (8am-5pm) since I'm planning to continue to nurse at night & on weekends.
I have a large freezer stash & I'm trying to decide if we'll be able to use it all before it expires or if I should make another donation. I'm planning continue pumping until DS is 1 but may decrease my pumping sessions earlier.

DS is almost 17 months and drinks about 4-6oz in the morning and 6-8oz at night before bed. I'm not exactly sure how much is is getting at daycare but it's around 4oz at snack time and 4oz at lunch (it's provided there).
DS started daycare at 12 months and never took a bottle. He drinks a max of 4 oz of WCM when I'm at work. He nurses a ton when we're home. We started the straw/sippy cup with water at meals when we started solids at 6 months. He does drink more water than milk when I'm gone (his preference).

Did anyone continue to send BM to daycare after a year? I guess I am just having a hard time understanding the switch. So right now at daycare DS' schedule is this
830am - 4oz bm 9am - breakfast (today it was a bagel and fruit) 1130am - nurses 12pm - school lunch 230pm - 4 oz bm 3pm - snack (yogurt, cheerios, fruit, whatever)
So at a year is he just magically not going to be hungry for the BM bottles anymore? Or do I replace those with WCM? Do I still send BM? If I continue sending them will he eventually just stop drinking them?
Until 16 months or so DS1 still nursed four times a day. When he stopped nursing he was drinking maybe 8 oz of milk from a silly. Now at over 2.5 he usually drinks 16 oz a day with meals.
At about ten months or so I stopped bottles all together. If I was not home (I am a sahm) DS got a sippy cup and/or solids. He still nursed on demand (4-5) times a day I think. I continued to nurse and he dropped sessions on his own until he was only nursing first thing in the morning and would get milk in a sippy the rest of the day. He stopped wanting to nurse after I got pregnant again. We never had to transition from a bottle. I am going to try something similar with this baby too (minus the getting pregnant part). Can you just send a sippy of milk to daycare too?
So at a year is he just magically not going to be hungry for the BM bottles anymore? Or do I replace those with WCM? We replaced his BM bottles with WCM sippy cups. I didn't want to put WCM in a bottle. Do I still send BM? You could if you wanted to. If I continue sending them will he eventually just stop drinking them? He'll probably drink it as long as you give it to him.
One year doesn't mean they don't want BM anymore. Plenty of moms keep pumping past one year. I pumped until 14 months.
I would just keep sending BM as long as you want to. Just maybe start introducing it in a sippy cup.

There is no advantage to cow milk over human milk... other than not having to pump, of course. I didn't want to pump at work, so I went straight to wcm by day. Nursing when together and not pumping at work just feels like having my cake and eating it too.
He should eventually take less milk as he eats more solids, but you know that isn't a nice smooth path. DS really is still mostly milk-fed, he just waits for me.

Kari- I'm planning to pump until 1 year & then continue to send BM until my stash runs out. Judging by the responses it will last quite a while. I have 800oz right now, if he continues to take 10oz per day it would last 4mo at daycare.
DS is 17 mo old He has 5 oz before we leave in the morning 4 oz for lunch at daycare 5 oz when he has his afternoon snack 5-6 oz as part of his bedtime routine
He's been drinking out of cups/sippy cups since he was 9 months old and completely transitioned at 1 year.
For those with LO's that don't drink much milk, do they drink water instead?
Yes. DD loves milk but pedi recommended to limit the amount since she also eats lots of cheese, yogurt, and other calcium/fat rich foods. We sometimes give her diluted juice (<5% juice + water) for a change once in a while.
She nursed until 16 months when she self-weaned. She drank no cow milk, drank a little almond or hemp milk and had a glass of kefir (a yogurt type drink) every day.
We didn't do bottles and started a cup around six months. I sucked at pumping and was kind of lazy (plus, she was always with me), so yeah.
DD drinks approx 18-24oz of milk per day - basically a cup at each meal. We started transitioning to the sippy cup just before a year, but she took a bottle before bed until 16mo.
Emily is almost 12 months. I send four 4 oz bottles of BM and she drinks three bottles unless I work late. She gets water in a sippy at meals at daycare and then gets her bottle an hour later, I think. The kids over 12 months get wcm in their sippy at meals. She nurses once or twice at home in the evening. I don't nurse in the morning. I pumped once yesterday at lunch and didn't pump today. I have around 200 oz and don't want to pump anymore. If she runs out of milk early, I will switch to wcm. A week won't matter. We only use bottles for milk now because the straw cup leaves waste. She just figured out the straw cup in the last week or so.
Little E LOVES his milk and has 24 oz a day (I think that's the max recommended). He has 4 oz at breakfast and then another 4 for snack. He has 8 oz before his afternoon nap and then another 8 before bed. He doesn't always drink it all before bed (maybe 6 or 7 oz).
ETA: All of his milk is still in a bottle (flame away), but his juices are all in sippy cups or even a regular cup w/ a lid/straw (he LOVES straws and uses them quite well).
My 2 yo LOVES milk so he drinks a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 24 oz. Our pedi encourages it because it's a good source of protein for picky eaters. He drinks skim though and is very active so I don't worry that much about the calories.
We switched to sippy cups around a year. I started giving them cups of water to play with at meal times around 10 months so they were ready to transition from bottles around their first birthday.
