I usually get Black Box Cabernet but am interested in trying something else. I want to get a box so I can drink the occasional glass without having to go through a whole bottle. Open to red or white so long as it's not sweet. And preferably not the Target wine cube because Target is not convenient to me so I'm likely headed to Whole Foods or the regular supermarket.
I'm no help, because the Target cubes ate my usual rec for boxed wine. I've had Bota Box a couple times though and it was fine. I think I had the pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc.
If you need individual servings of champagne, I recommend the Sofia cans.
I like the bota box but IDK if you can buy it at whole foods or the grocery because I live in a ridiculous state where one only buys wine/beer/liquor at the packie.

I can definitely buy it at Whole Foods. Hell, I'm pretty sure I can buy it at the deli half a block away. I know I can get Black Box there.
This is Wisconsin. We basically have alcohol flowing from our water fountains.
Are you near a TJ's? I find their boxed red to be pretty decent.
I had their white once, and it was undrinkable. And the nearest TJs is at a mall.
Well their white is chardonnay (give me a sauv blanc any day) so there's that. lol I don't know that any boxed wine is worth braving a mall for though. And the TJ's boxed red wine is better after it's been open for a day. But I find that's the case with most boxed wine.

I usually get Bota box. Just not the Redvolution. I tried that recently and couldn't even get a glass down it was so gross. I gave it to my sister who made sangria with it. (Kicking myself for not thinking of that!)

I think I've had Bota before. Maybe? I don't know. I'll check the deli. The ability to buy a box of wine without even going a full block away is pretty awesome. I used to have to walk THREE WHOLE BLOCKS to access alcohol. The horror.
Bota is my boxed wine of choice. They have a special holiday red right now that's good. The Redvolution is also good.
The boxed red at TJ's is drinkable. The boxed white is vomit-inducing, but I have bought the red in a pinch. It's no Bota, but considerably better than Two Buck Chuck. I think in general most boxed Chardonnay is terrible, but the TJ's one is particularly bad.
For cheap/boxed wine, I find the best bets are either a red blend, Sauvignon blanc or Pinot Grigio. If I'm faced with brands I don't recognize, that's my strategy.

Redvolution is my favorite! Maybe you had a bad box?
Carl just recommended I get boxed wine. We turned down the heat this winter and I've been cold in the evenings and not in the mood for a cocktail on ice. I told him that's why God made gin, but now I have recs at least.
I watched a Cook's Illustrated episode and they had a couple of hacks for aerating cheap wine so it tastes better. One was to blend it and the other was to pour from pitcher to pitcher 15 times.

15 times? OMFG. That is way too much work for boxed wine on a Tuesday night. We have one of those pour-through aerators, so if be willing to try that. But ain't nobody got time for pouring it from pitcher to pitcher 15 times.

I thought it was hysterical and only at CI would that be the "easy" option. Chris Kimball was so pleased with the option too. lol

Good to know. Maybe I'll try it again. Especially now that I know I can use it for sangria if I still don't like it.
I prefer Black Box but I often have to hunt down the Pinot Grigio since it's not always at my Kroger. I've been liking Bota more and more and appreciate the nice single serving juice boxes.

I like to see that a "single serving" is 3 glasses.
