We're pumped. Slightly sad it's ending, but I think it's time. The Brits are generally way better at knowing when to stop than we are, and last season was a stretch IMO.
Argh! I just went to the Simply June site and in huge bold letters there's a major spoiler on the main page. Boooooooo!!!
Yeah I noticed that when I went to watch it on December 27. So note to everyone else - DO NOT visit simply june unless you want the ending of the entire series spoiled.
I couldn't care less about the hospital drama. I guess it's to show that Isobel and the Dowager still have their spunk?
I love Daisy. She cracks me up.
What was the point of the Carson and Hughes sex talk? Mrs. Patterson being the middle man cracked me up because she was so awkward, but really, what was the point of that whole minidrama?
I hope we never hear from that blackmailer again. Donk handled it well, I guess.
I like how the other family selling off their estate showed how "the times are a changing." I can think of many moments like that across the series and I predict this season might end with the dissolution of Downton (no spoilers please!).
Edith meet Virginia Woolfe? Jealous! I also loved Mary's reference to "The Fall of the House of Usher."
I also hope we never hear any more about the Bates/Anna/Mr. Green drama.
All in all, I like the show a lot but I am ready for it to end. I'm happy Isis is still in the opening credits, lol.
I saw this episode about 3-4 weeks ago at a screening event at my local theater (and we dressed up!).
I was never really Team Edith, but I will admit that 1) her story this season is the one that intrigues me the most and 2) she is the character who has probably grown and changed the most. You think Mary is brave and daring and whatever, but she's actually the most traditional since her role is oldest child, and she was expected to marry well, and now she's the mother of the heir, and... well... there were never any expectations for Edith. Lol.
I like how this episode showed the changing times with the speech from the blackmailer, Daisy's courage to say something to the new landowner etc. I also like seeing Edith doing something and hearing about her time with Michael Gregson! Yay Edith.

I fell around 8:45 and just woke up not long ago . I don't understand why my husband didn't wake me up when I've been talking about this ALL WEEK, but never mind that. I just started watching and will be back soon lol.

I found the Carson/Hughes/Pattmore sex talk storyline a little odd and drawn-out, but I think it gave the show an opportunity for Carson to really express his romantic love for Mrs. Hughes, something we haven't seen before----they've flirted a little, but so much of their relationship has seemed more sibling-/BFF-like.
The blackmailer character was terrible, but I loved how Donk handled it. I was surprised that none of Mary's suitors made an appearance.
Loved the Dowager countess messing with Denker.
SO glad the Mr. Green story is over, and I was touched by the family rushing downstairs to celebrate . . . although if you're going to break out the Veuve Clicquot, maybe invite the staff upstairs?
Daisy was awesome.
I like Aunt Rosamond's support of Edith, and I really hope that this is the season I stop finding Edith simpering and annoying. I want to like her. Yay, ladies in publishing! But she's so irritating.
Is it me or is Dowager Countess rubbing off Isobel? That "Don't let's make too much of it" was amazing lol. "Rather you than me," wasn't half-bad either.
I know Anna and Bates have haters (perhaps I've been one before haha) but it was nice to see him comforting her like that. I felt so bad for her . So glad they wrapped their legal drama up early, ugh. I was over it.
Most awkward moment ever: Ms. Patmore investigating whether Carson wants to sleep with Mrs. Hughes. Whyyyy? I am glad they worked it out, however.
I guess Denker is the new O'Brien . The worst! Thomas seems tolerable this season so far.
I wish someone would brush my hair softly and slowly like Anna does for Mary.
What was Daisy thinking?!
I'm glad that Mary wasn't going to give into that sleazy blackmailer.
I am glad that the Mr. Greene incident is behind them. But I cried over their baby woes. Why can't they just be happy!? I do hope they get to have a family some way or another.
Violet playing Denker was awesome. I loved it.
Holy awkward talk Mrs. Patmore and Carson! But very cute in a way - they're all old and grown, but scared of the deed.
Molesely says something like, Gosh, how great that Lady Edith found this random pauper baby in the village and wants to give her a better life! So simple and gullible. Bless his heart.
Plot twist: Robert did something awesome for a change! He only paid Blackmail Girl 50 pounds and made her sign a confession! And then he said he believes Mary can run the estate, despite her ovaries! Huzzah!
