We are moving to Tanzania at the end of the month. Part of me is really excited and part of me wonders what Hell is in store for us doing this with a toddler and a newborn.
It sure does sound like an adventure! Best of luck to you! What is the healthcare system like over there?
I'll find out next week when we go for a few days to find a place to live. We'll be getting back on the worldwide health insurance policy we had while we were living in Asia though so we can go pretty much anywhere for service.
Wow!! Did you just find out today? Did you know it was a possibility?
You should start a blog!
We found out just before Christmas but it just became public today. We are actually in the US on an international assignment despite both being Americans. H's long term job is in Europe. We knew we'd be moving on to another location eventually. It was only a matter of time.
I used to blog when we lived in Europe and Asia and it fell by the wayside when we moved to the U.S. maybe I should start again...
That is so exciting! How long do you expect to be there?
We had friends who lived in Nepal and went there a few times on holiday. They loved it.
It's hard to say. They've always been 3-5 year contracts but we've been here two and a half years and that's the longest we have lived in one country since we got married eight years ago. Although that being said, there are things that make me believe that the 2 1/2 year old will be into elementary school before we move on again.
I spent a couple weeks in Tanzania in high school on an extended Habitat for Humanity trip (lol at what seemed so 'normal' when attending an international school...) and loved every minute of it.
We followed it up with a respite stay for a few days in Zanzibar and it was magical.
That sounds amazing. Now my mind is trying to figure out what kind of industry/job would need you in Tanzania. I'm always so jealous of people who get to do expat assignments. It's pretty unlikely that my line of work will take me anywhere cool!
