My student loan grace period is about to end and I am currently unemployed, but my husband is in the military. He may be getting out in July leaving us with little to no income. Can I defer my loans and still make payments on them when I can without a penalty?
Can you at least make interest payments? They keep the juice running even when they're deferred, and depending on your rate and the amount of your loan, that can make a huge impact on what you owe.
I don't know about paying without penalty, but I would guess you could. I'd make a call to your lender.

Well it will really depend on if my husband and I have jobs by that time, whether or not we can afford to pay the interest. The rates are very high on my private loans unfortunately. We will try though! Thank you for your advice.
