My son called to tell me his wife was admitted to the hospital. She went in a few days ago and was diagnosed with high blood pressure and there were concerns of pre-eclampsia. She went back today for a non-stress and other testing and her blood pressure was high enough that they admitted her for observation. She'll be there throughout the weekend. My son said that depending on her condition they may have to induce as early as tomorrow but they're hoping that she can hold on until 37 weeks. Right now she's at 30 weeks. Please do that voodoo that you do so well so that grandson Jonathan can hold on for another seven weeks.
UPDATE: Got a call from my son. They are in an ambulance being transported to the larger hospital in Spokane. Her pressure spiked so they are sending her to specialist in "the big city." If she has to come here across the mountains to the main hospitals is when I'll be really worried. Right now it's just worried. :/ (But he's really worried because he's not a "call mom" type of person.)
I was admitted to the hospital at 31 weeks for the same issues, stabalized, put on bed rest and monitoring, brought back to the hospital at 33 weeks for hospital bed rest and further monitoring, then induced at 34 weeks. My 6 week preemie is now a happy bouncing 7 month old. I'll add T&P that if she does have to deliver early, grandson Johnathan comes out fighting.
Thoughts and prayers she can hold out. I know that even 34 weeks is a huge turning point for preemies, so every week closer to that is great. I delivered at 29 weeks due to HELLP syndrome and my boys are perfectly normal 2 year olds.
DH was delivered at 30 weeks in 1987 and he has been healthy and thriving since then. He'll be just fine, but I'm keeping them in my thoughts and hoping she can make it a few more weeks!

They'll be in my thoughts! I was in and out of the hospital from 26 weeks on in my last pregnancy due to blood pressure concerns. They were able to keep me stable enough to carry to 37w6d despite giving steroids for lungs at 34 anticipating delivering that weekend. I was on very strict bedrest and on meds, but they were able to keep us both safe! Fingers crossed the same happens here!!!
All my good thoughts. Every day she can keep him in counts at this point. My dd was born at 27 seeks due to severe preeclampsia and HELLP. She is now a completely healthy and developmentally typical 3.5 year old. She caught up to her real age by 18 months.
Fingers crossed your grandson stays put for many weeks, but if he can't, he has every chance of doing really well in the NICU.
