Older people should have to take driving tests when they renew their licenses.
YES. I don't think that's an UO. There's an old guy that lives in our building and not a day goes by that he doesn't bump someone's car while parking. Wait, maybe it's not because he's old.
I don't think you should socialize with co-workers/boss outside work. I hate work "parties," too.
Why don't you think people should socialize with co-workers outside of work? What is the reason? I understand not hanging with the boss but if you get along with a co-worker well why should your interaction be limited to work? Providing you're a decent judge of character and don't become friends with a crazy person in the office, I see no reason to abstain from a friendship. And does that also mean that co-workers shouldn't go grab lunch together either? Because that's technically "outside of work" too.

My UO is that it's pointless to use bump acronyms when snarking a newb for asking a dumb question. Many of them don't even know what CD means or even BFP... so they're definitely not going to know what the hell you're talking about when you throw "GBCB" or "BSC" at them.

Hm, maybe what I should have said that I personally don't like to. Everyone else can do whatever they please.
Maybe it's just my experience, but people take advantage of friendships. They, maybe subconsciously, expect the friendship to reap benefits in the workplace, that it will somehow make their requests to me and whatnot a priority over those of others, etc. They start telling me about their personal lives and then want to know about mine, but I just don't like blending my private life with work. I guess life has made me very distrustful of people and their true intentions.

Ah that makes more sense. And definitely if you're in a position of authority or have a say over certain things etc, that people might expect occupational benefits to being your friend.
I think we should all remember that we were all newbs at one point or another. Not that I've seen it here yet, but just in general, there is no need to be an asshole when someone asks a question you/we deem stupid or pointless.
Granted... I suppose there is always an exception...

Even when I was a newb, I never thought people on the internet could tell me whether or not I was pregnant. One gal yesterday was not TTC but created an account, came on and asked if we thought she could be pregnant (on TB TTGP) but she was on birth control and her boyfriend comes on her back.... but she wanted to know if some semen could get in to her vagina and get her pregnant.
(just an example of where common sense should come in to play )

Cool because I met my DH here at work.
ETA: Ugh, quote fail. I've never been able to quote correctly on Proboards.
My UO is that I absolutely LOVE working with family (and yes, I socialize after work hours with them, so ) and wouldn't trade it for anything. Oh and nepotism FTW.
(I believe this is U. I've had a LOT of people ask me over the years how I can stand working with family)

Right. And, that is exactly what I mean by exceptions!
Aside from blatant stupidity, most people are just looking for some reassurance, common ground, suggestions, and/or support.
If I had enough land to do this (my city requires at least an acre of land in order to own chickens) I totally would. It's a much better option than getting eggs laid from chickens on factory farms. The living conditions of those chickens are awful

I know, right! Plus, eggs from true free range chickens are a lot healthier, half the cholesterol, etc. We're technically allowed one chicken, which just seems really lonely for that poor bird. We're either going to get 3-4 and hope our neighbors don't complain, or we'll wait until we can move into our next house in a few years, hopefully on several acres.
