My female cat is 9 years old. She's indoor only. She's still eating and drinking normally. Still going to the bathroom like normal. Her mood seems normal.
She used to always sleep upstairs in my bed with me. The last few days, she hasn't been following me upstairs. She sleeps on the couch.
She seems to be more skinny.
So really, no major concerns. She just seems different. Sound normal?
And I plan on taking her to the vet this week.
I lost my male cat a couple years ago due to his heart. Now I worry that she's going to die too. I mean, I know she will eventually, but 9 isn't that old yet.
My 13 year old cat is definitely thinner than he was when he was younger. No specific concerns, though. We feed more wet food than we used to and let him free feed on kibble.
It's possible she's got some arthritis that makes the stairs harder.

Is she eating? My cat seemed to be getting skinnier, but I thought it was old age. She was 18. I switched to wet food, which she liked and always ate all of. Then one day she stopped eating and it turned out there was a mass in her stomach. So, I'm not in any way trying to say that's what's up with your cat. I'm just glad you're getting it checked out.
