Anyone give their dog glucosamine?

The vet recommended it for Sadie bc she's having some joint pain, but I don't think it agrees with her.

We started with 1 pill with breakfast since her stomach is so sensitive, but she is gassy. Also she really smells suddenly. Which is not like her at all.

The vet didn't really go over any side effects.

We did but didn't notice any side effects. Could you try a different brand?

Possibly. Of course DH bought a big bottle.

We do for our Aussie too. He gets the liquid that goes on top of his food, 1-2tablespoons once a day. I do think it makes him gassy but it's not terrible. We usually do morning so it's out of his system by nighttime. We get the liquid at Costco and about every other month it's on sale for $5 off.

My dog got VERY gassy on glucosamine and unbearably so on fish oil. My vet took the fish oil back.....You might see if yours would too.

My parents do the Trader Joes glucosamine and also mix coconut oil into their food. Only positive side effects, no smelly or bad ones.

We do for Doggie D, but I haven't noticed anything.
