But I don't love it when people post their good deeds on FB. It changes the random act of kindness into something that you want recognition for rather than just doing it because it was the right thing to do.
I don't see that too much on here, but I feel like I am always getting links on FB.
Eh. I don't see a million of these posts, but I don't mind them. IF you are only doing something good for the attention or accolades, I don't care (most of the time). If at the end of the day you made a real difference to someone or something out in the world for selfish reasons, you still made a difference. If you need the attention to bother doing it, okay. Plenty of people do stupid, mean or annoying things for attention so I'm glad you went the other way. However, I do get annoyed by "altruistic" things that people post to make themselves feel better that don't actually help anyone or anything.

Everyone does good deeds for selfish reasons. Even if it's just that it makes you feel good. I don't care who posts on Facebook about good things, or who posts here about good things, or etc. What's important is doing good fucking things, period.

I love good deed posts. They make me feel warm and fuzzy whether someone is posting something they witnessed, something that happened to them, or something they did.

No, there are people who definitely do it because they're craving kudos.
(I fully appreciate the irony of complaining about AWy FB posts, after mine this morning.)
Yeah, I feel like there is a tone and perhaps when it comes with a very drawn out story. I love when people share stories that they witness and I agree, it can spur you to do something nice. LIke I said, I was inspired by someone paying for my order and wanted to do the same for someone else.
And generally these are not from people I know, but links that pop up.
I posted about this before but someone I know on FB posted a picture of her son giving his sandwich to a homeless person. She fucking took a picture then posted it on Facebook. What a fucking asshole and no, we are not friends.
I seriously cannot think of a time I have had that reaction to people on here sharing things. I am not just saying that which makes me think it has a lot to do with how it is done, pictures, etc.
I feel like we are all friends here, sharing our days with one another. Whether it be good, bad, when we are struggling, and our successes.
The last good deed I did was pushing my neighbor's trash can to her garage for her after trash night because she was out of town I should post it on Facebook and tag her

Yes, I posted about this kind of "random act of kindness" too. It doesn't count if you make the person pose for your fucking social media account! Assholes.

I like when people boost charitable organizations or causes and focus on that. I get annoyed when my one friend posts long paragraphs about how she helps homeless people. She manages to come across as arrogant and patronizing. I have seen it both ways.

On my son's birthday every year, I ask my family and friends to do a random act of kindness in his memory, and to post it to social media so that I can see all the nice things that are done with him in mind. It helps me not spiral on his birthday.
No matter the reason behind it, I think that it's good to have good things happen, and hopefully the sharing of it inspires others to take part.
