Morning!!
I'm at work for now, but it's a friend's birthday so we're heading to dinner this evening to celebrate! It should be a lot of fun :-)
Well it's chilly for the desert! Only 20 degrees :-P Much like rupertpenny, our houses are all tile floors and don't have any insulation, so that makes it chilly! But it's okay. I'll happily take a little bit of chilly weather :-)
QOTD: Too many :-P I'm currently getting caught up on The Americans, which I love! I'm also watching Jane the Virgin! One of my favorite shows :-)

Happy Australia Day! It was a holiday here and we had friends over for my annual "Immigrant's Australia Day." I make a meal that's from an immigrant cuisine to celebrate being in a land of (mostly) immigrants. This year's menu was cheese enchiladas, Spanish rice, chips & salsa, ranch dip, and fudgsicles. Our guest brought over some really nice wine and flan parfaits. It was a great evening.
Other than that, it was a quiet day. It was overcast most of the day, though some of that was clouds and some was smoke from bushfires in Tasmania. I think the rest of the week will be the same, mild and overcast with some change of rain, but still smoke from the Tasmanian fires.
QOTD: I never miss an episode of NCIS or NCIS: New Orleans -- I love to see shots of home and I enjoy checking for friends as extras. I also watch Major Crimes. My mother is trying to get me involved in the Dr. Blake Mysteries, so I may check them out when the new season begins in a couple of weeks. DH and I mainly watch political commentary shows together -- whether Australian or US like The Daily Show. And Jeopardy. We never miss Jeopardy.
We have no snow but it's frigid here and I wish I could hibernate until March. Nothing fun today. I have spent over 1 week trying to get a new bedspread for my guest bed from our rental furniture company. I feel like I should be on a TV show of expats who walk around in a constant state of "Is this seriously happening right now?" Like today, a "bedspread installer" came to my house with the FOURTH attempt at a correct bedspread delivery (also "installation") and still failed to bring the correct items. This time I got the correct sheets and incorrect duvet cover (how does that even happen??) AND no duvet insert. *bangs head on naked bed* I get to wait another week for the fifth attempt and they already told me they can't bring a duvet insert because that would require a custom order. Ummm ok I guess I'll just go get one at Ikea for $45. Custom order my ass.
QOTD: I have not been watching much TV lately but I've been watching a few episodes of Blackish and the Good Wife. Need to catch up with new seasons of other shows. I forgot about the Americans! Need to catch up on that.

No snow, but plenty of rain, though it's been quite 'warm' as of late (in the teens centigrade or 50s F). I went to the bank to unlink my name to the joint account this morning as we're going to be getting tons of money through it and I don't want to deal with FACTA issues. Went to the house to start removing items so that we'll have room for storing our other house stuff (during renovations). Then weight lifted. And tonight is my field hockey training (8pm to 10pm). I'm going to be tired!
QOTD: No favourite though we watch a few zombie/apocalypse shows.

The rental company has to come out to "install" sheets and bedspreads? Can you buy your own and keep them?

Yes they sent someone to make up the bed! They don't even use top sheets here so it takes approximately 30 seconds to "install" lol. Although now I kind of see why he comes because they keep sending the wrong items/sizes so I'm glad he's here to "uninstall" the bedding and take it right back. I could buy bedding but it's free (to me) to go through the rental co. The bed is also a non-standard size, I have no idea why, so I'm having a hard time finding things online that fit. If they send the wrong duvet cover next week I'll be sucking it up and buying myself because im so done with them.
