LOL ... it's still not Friday here, but that's OK. My brain is already on Friday, so I'll take it.
I'm reading "Interpreter of Maladies" as part of my own personal challenge-read to expand the types of books I read. (And also see if I can do better on those "how many of these great books have you read" surveys that always seem to pop up and that I always seem to do poorly on.)
No illustrations. I don't think it would be improved with them - the prose is wonderful and vivid and I like imagining it myself.
And yes, I often have to sing the song, though I play a game when I can't go to sleep, trying to say the alphabet backwards.
Reading: The Magicians. So far I'm liking it, but we will see.
Listening to: I just finished the first Dresden files book - starting on the second. They aren't really my thing, but I'm enjoying listening while working out.
Very rarely do I have to sing the song anymore, but sometimes:)

I'm reading The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey. It does have illustrations at the beginning of each chapter; the chapter title is part of the illustration. I like the pictures, and I think it helps to have the illustrations, but since this is a book directed at middle readers/children I would be surprised if it did not have a few illustrations somewhere.
QOTW: Yep. Especially if I have something that's in the middle of the alphabet. I'm pretty good if I can start with piles, but if it's only one thing and I have to alphabetize among already sorted things, I am definitely going to sing the song.
I'm reading The Longest Night by Andria Williams, which is so good. It's about a military couple in the 1960s. He's working on a troubled nuclear reactor in Idaho and she's struggling with the loneliness and isolation. I don't think I would want illustrations. Photographs maybe, of the land and the homes in that time period, but not for any of the characters -- I like to stick with my interpretation of them.
I just started the Golem and the Jinni. So far, so good! It's my 6th book of the year. I am also starting a new job with a long commute in a week, so I'm looking into getting a bunch of audio books.
QOTW: Nope, but I start at certain points, like L.

I'm reading A Banquet of Consequences. It's the newest Elizabeth George book. i just started it, so I'm not sure if it would be improved by illustrations.
I finished A Man Called Ove earlier this week. It was very sweet.
QOTW: I don't need to sing the whole song, just some part of the song near the letter I need.
I just finished Go Set a Watchman. I thought it started out with a lot of promise, but I really didn't like it in the end. And I'm sad that I didn't like it, because To Kill a Mockingbird is amazing. I just wished GSAW wasn't so...wild...about the coming-of-age process. It was hard to follow.
I'm thinking I might start Divergent next. I was on the fence about reading the trilogy because I'd heard such bad things about the 3rd book, but then it came up on a Kindle Daily Deal for $1.99 so I figured why not.
Because I'm on hold for 3 audiobooks I really want to read ASAP at my library, I downloaded Grisham's Grey Mountain on audiobook. It's fine; easy to listen to.
QOTW: I do sometimes need to sing a small portion of it (RSTUV), but I don't need to start at A.
I finished The Nightingale earlier this week and really enjoyed it. I'm about half way through The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, it's ok so far.
I picked up Life After Life, The Kitchen House and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society from the used book section of Barnes & Noble yesterday.

I liked this book, too.
I finished Modern Romance on a flight today. It was very funny, and it did include charts and graphs (and photographs)!
I don't need to sing the alphabet song, but I can recite it backwards lol.
I've been super busy at work, so still reading Marathon Woman by Kathrine Switzer. No illustrations, but there are photographs which really do enhance the story.
On audio I'm listening to The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain. It's pretty good. I don't think illustrations would improve it.
I don't sing the alphabet song when alphabetizing, but I do always have to stop and think twice when things are in the Q-Z area. So, I sing part of the song? lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm about 20-25 pages from the end and I can't wait for it to be over. I am reading it with an elderly friend that I only see about 2x a month, so it's been a looong process. I thought maybe that was part of my problem, but I realized last week that no, I'm just pretty annoyed by it. Admittedly, it didn't stand much of a chance in my world, since To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my all time favorites, but I did hold out hope.

I also liked this book. Enjoy!
I am reading All The Bright Places for my book club. So far, so good. The chooser is so excited about it, I hope I continue to like it. A couple of illustrations, it works, more would not be helpful in this book. When reading certain books I sit with my iPad and look up things - specifically art works, I find it helps me to see it.

I read it RIGHT after re-reading To Kill A Mockingbird. What a disappointment. It seriously read like fan-fiction. I do not in a million years believe the story that it was written before TKAM.
I'm still working my way through The Pillars of the Earth. It sort of has illustrations in-between the section breaks, but it could definitely use some when describing the different parts of the cathedral. I cannot for the life of me picture in my head what some of these terms mean even after looking them up repeatedly in my Kindle dictionary (I haven't tried to look them up on Wikipedia).
I'm almost done with Leviathan Wakes (the Expanse series book1). It is really good even if you have been watching the series. It bothers H that I know what is supposed to happen next.
At first I thought it was quote of the week... But for the real QOTW not always.

Quote of the Week works too. Maybe next time we'll do that.
I don't normally read those types of books. It was okay. I wouldn't read any more of her.
I liked this book, but I like Nora Roberts despite the fact that most of her books are the same. As long as you know what you are in for, they are a fun read. It does seem like a strange choice for a book club though.
