We waited until after my shower to do everything but paint the room with DD1. Even then, we waited until after our anatomy scan to do that. I think I was around 34 weeks at my first shower.
I planned during first trimester and did order the crib and glider since I knew what I wanted. Then as soon as I felt good and 2nd trimester hit we hit the ground running on house projects including clearing out and painting the nursery, painting the trim, refinishing the dresser, etc. I'm so glad we knocked it out during 2nd tri because I was on bedrest at 33 weeks and had her at 36.
Well I've already been pinning stuff, so I have a general idea of what I want to do.
We are still the only ones IRL to know, but there's a chance my mom may want some of our guest room furniture, so if I can at least start clearning out the room via CL or family, I would be ok with that.
But we're knee deep into a bathroom reno that is giving me anxiety daily, so honestly I want it done before we start something else.
We remodeled the entire second floor of our house while I was pregnant and carpet wasn't even installed until DS was 2 weeks old. We waited to get some of the bigger furniture until after the room was done. He's 7 months and the room is still in progress.

I painted the room over labor day weekend last year, so about 16 weeks? It's Beatles themed, so it didn't matter to wait to find out at the a/s. Plus I had some time off work, and it was supposed to be my EDD for the baby we lost, so it was kind of cathartic.
I then spent the next ten-ish months working and not working on the mural which I finally finished about a month ago (DD is six months and just moved in there anyway).
We've started gathering ideas already (I admit, I had a board on Pinterest for imaginary kids like a year ago). We'll probably order furniture shortly after we move into our new house on October 1. Anatomy scan won't change what we do for furniture or paint colors, but after that, we'll probably try to finalize any details/accessories that are a little more specific to boy or girl.

So far we have just emptied the closet of all our junk and threw it away/gave it away/moved it to the other room's closet. I am itching to get the furniture moved out (current guest room) but my H has been out of town for the last 5 weeks. Hopefully when he gets back we'll get cracking on it all. Haven't ordered the furniture yet. I picked out stuff, then the price went up $250 so I keep hoping it will go back down.

For DD: we were finished by 8 months. But I refused to buy anything until after the big u/s.
For DS: We were PLANNING on putting his room together on the day he was born. LOL. he came a little earlier than planned (3 weeks early). We got his room painted when he was three months old and finally getting it finished with decor now. He is 9 months old. Whoops.

I sewed a bunch of the stuff in the room, so I tried to get a jump on things b/c I knew I'd need a little extra time. We were going to find out the gender, but I was planning on a gender neutral room anyways so I was able to plan stuff out before finding out what we were having. I think I had the fabrics and general idea of the room by 16 or so weeks, but we didn't actually start clearing stuff out and getting things set up until I was about 6 months along.

We didn't really do anything until after the anatomy scan. Part of it was because we were definitely finding out the sexes and I wanted to decorate accordingly (I would have gone hog wild with pink if it was two girls) and part of it was because I was so afraid something would happen with the pregnancy that I didn't want to do anything until at least the first trimester was over.

We just had the a/s today, so maybe I'll start considering it. I know the first orders of business are to bolt things to walls (there are two huge bookshelves that can't be removed from the room) and decide on a configuration for all the furniture. Then, I need to clean the junk out of the closet.
But really, I don't plan on doing much besides putting a crib and dresser in there anyway.
We decided on furniture, bedding, etc early on (around 12-14 weeks), but didn't do any purchasing or set up until I was 32 weeks. I'm now 34 weeks and the room is already done, but we didn't have much we needed to do.
We started pretty early--I'm pretty sure painting was done around 14 weeks. Of course, we just bought our house in July 2011, and found out about the pregnancy six months later, so the room hadn't been fully utilized for anything yet. I also really don't like stereotypically gendered decor, so the anatomy scan had no bearing on those choices. So before anatomy scan, we had cleared out the room, painted, picked the crib (IKEA Gulliver), and I had been gathering inspiration photos. All the big stuff was done by about 26 weeks, including main pieces of furniture purchased and assembled. I'm now 36.5 weeks and would be able to say we're done, but we actually still need to paint and install baseboard moldings. We were really far ahead of the game for a long time...
We still haven't started, but to be fair we just moved in our new apartment Monday. I will be starting it within the next few weeks after I return from the States.
I should clarify that I haven't started putting together the nursery, but I did buy the bedding while I was in the States in July. We are doing a gender neutral room.
I had a Pinterest board started sometime before I even got pregnant. I researched things but refused to actually do anything baby-wise until we had the a/s. After that, I picked out bedding for our registry so we could pick a color scheme.
Ordered the dresser around 28 weeks, the crib was purchased around 34 weeks, and the glider was ordered at 36 weeks. DH started painting around 35 weeks and we got carpet installed at 37 weeks. We still have to have an electrician come out and run wiring for ceiling fans, but that might not get done until I am back to work.
At 39w6d, it's been done for about 2 weeks now but pretty scant in the decor department. I want to wait and slowly add stuff to the walls over time.
