My boys will be sharing a room soon and with 2 cribs there isn't room for 2 dressers in the room. I'd like to put drawers or something in their closet but it would require knocking out some built in shelves I think they might use when they are older. What do you think H&G? WWYD?
I've yet to regret knocking out shelves. I did two low shelves in ours as I didn't want to pay for elf drawer inserts, though I got baskets. It works great.

We put two dressers in our boy's closet and so they can't really even hang things anymore. I also wouldn't worry about taking out shelves if it's not working for you and you want the floor space that the dressers take up. Kids need floor space. It's been good so far for our oldests(boys are 7 and 9). I can try to take a picture tonight.
My DD and soon-to-be-born DS will be sharing a room once he's old enough. Their shared closet is smaller than what you have but I've set up two cheap, simple Rubbermaid storage containers with drawers on either side of the closet and a hanging divider storage thingie in between. I lined the front of the drawers with fun paper and I think the setup is cute and functional. We originally had a regular dresser in the room but DD's clothes are still so tiny, it felt like they were just lost in there.
As an aside, I really like the wire baskets/hooks/shelves you have inside the closet door. What a good use of space. Where is the system from?

I have no idea where they are from since they were there when we bought the house.
We have 2 dressers that I would like to put in the closet but I think they might be too wide.
I also like this:
I did something very similar in my old closet and it was awesome use of space. Half of mine had drawers which was nice but not super necessary. I used the systems they had at HD
Does anyone know of a good online tutorial on how to remove shelves from a wall?
We literally just knocked them down with a hammer (took off the clothing bars first. Also if you have brackets and you can see any screws, you might want to loosen them if possible). They came down pretty easily. We had to do a little patching of the dry wall, but very easy.
ETA: after looking at your pic again, mine was very similar. Take down the brown rails/bars. Then just knock it down with a hammer, and try to pry the support pieces under the brackets off too. It should come off pretty easily. For the wire shelf: Lift the support piece (the diagonal piece) as its just placed on the wire (movable) and then its only in the wall by a wall anchor, which you should just be able to pull on and it comes off. The wire shelf will be super easy.
With the wood ones, first I removed any screws then I used a hammer to pry from the wall a bit. You'll want to peek behind to see the best direction to pry to minimize potential damage. All ours were at a downward angle into the wall so I put the hammer on top.
There were some small holes to patch but nothing bad.

I put a dresser in our closet to save floor space in the room. I took the legs off because it let me hang longer stuff above and it eliminates the need to sweep (or possibility of losing stuff) underneath.
Nurse Cramer had stopped speaking to Nurse Duckett, her best friend, because of her liaison with Yossarian, but still went everywhere with Nurse Duckett since Nurse Duckett was her best friend....Nurse Cramer was prepared to begin talking to Nurse Duckett again if she repented and apologized.
I have been looking for ideas online for our future home and the ELFA system keeps coming up. I like the versatility.
starryfish, Nice closet! Are those hangers the ones called 'huggable" or something like that? I read that shirts do not get the hanger marks in the shoulder area. Is that true?

Awesome! Thank you for the tip about finding them at those stores. I will probably go and buy some myself.

I have this small set of drawers in DS's closet now...it was from IKEA back in the day, but I"m sure they have something similar now. (It was red and pale wood when I got it, I painted it and did the map and library labels).
