You're already exposed, so there's not a whole lot that you can do except limit your continued exposure (If it is an option, have someone else change BM items, lots of hand washing and brushing the mouth with antacids- if you can't avoid use gloves and try to keep blisters, spit and BMs as contained as possible). The doctor's office can run blood tests to check for antibodies and exposure saturation.
If you were exposed (I was around 16 weeks), it can cause complications. My exposure is likely the cause of an echogenic spot on the baby's bowel that self resolved around 28 weeks. My baby is currently healthy and happy, have had2 ultrasounds since and the spot is gone and the MFM is not worried. However, the spot did lead to a lot of additional testing: genetic testing including carrier screenings and multiple blood tests along with level 2 ultrasounds every 2 weeks. I understand that it is very serious and my OB and MFM were none to happy when the antibody test came back high.
One of my BFFs was exposed during her pregnancy. She ended up being hospitalized for 2 or 3 weeks, but her and the baby are both completely fine.
The toddler room at N's preschool (not his class) has confirmed cases and I didn't realize it was the same thing she had. I am definitely bringing it up at my OB appointment tomorrow.
I recently went through this. I was hr anyway with my last pregnancy. I was totally freaked out at first but it basically just meant I had to get extra blood draws and ultrasounds. I was already getting regular ultrasound so there aren't any separate for that's. Nothing ever came up on the ultrasound that indicated it had crossed the placenta. They checked to see if I was immune to it which unfortunately I was not and just monitored the results from the blood tests. All was fine and ds2 is doing great.

My 1 year old just had it. I haven't had any symptoms which is surprising considering I held him a lot before the rash and he likes to use me as a tissue.
Got my blood drawn today to test. We're not even 100% positive my son has it but it seemed more conclusive to test only me than him first and then me. 3-5 day wait.
Liked posts for support, not liking all you guys had to go through this. <3
Did you get the results yet spunbutterfly? When I had my last OB appointment, I got the results of the 1st tri bloodwork and I guess they screen for fifths antibodies then so some people must already be immune. Hope you are ok!
patbutcher Timely. I just got my results in. I'm positive for antibodies, but the level means I was not exposed recently. I've been crying randomly for the last few days, I'm sure pregnancy hormones and just the unknown and now... I am so so relieved.
