I am going to start really charting next month (haven't been too serious until now) but I am trying to figure out the "same time every day" rule. I have my phone alarm set for 6am daily because it seems like the best time to do it during the work week. However, I've been waking up to pee 2-4 times per week between 4 and 5am. Is that going to screw up my temps? Should I try to take it at 5 daily and then go back to sleep? TIA!
I didn't realize all the rules prior to doing it the first month. I think the temps were a bit more erratic than they probably actually were, but it still showed pretty clear before and after ovulation temps.
I'd try your best, but between that and OPKs/CM, you should be able to tell even if you aren't perfect about the timing of your temps.

If you wake up to pee pretty consistently at a time earlier than 6am, I would take it at that earlier time.
I tried setting an alarm, but I would wake up at odd hours wondering if it was time for the alarm to go off. So I thought screw it, I'll take my temp when I naturally wake up to go pee, which is generally between 3 and 4:30. This is a larger time range then is suggested by FF and TCOYF, but it is the best I can do, and I have gotten a clear temp shirt every month. Good luck!

Thanks for asking this! I'm just reading Taking Charge of your Fertility now and have the same sleeping habits and was wondering about what to do with that situation...
