One of my friends from Ireland is in Boston this Saturday night and we're hanging out together. We've only made it into Boston from Worcester a handful of times since moving, so don't really know where to go.
We're staying in Sommerville, they're staying in Cambridge. We'd like to find somewhere cool to grab a couple of drinks in a bar type atmosphere, but have the option to order food too. Somewhere we can sit over food/drinks. It'd be awesome if it was also in an area that if afterward we wanted to barhop/try another bar or two that would be an option without an uber, but are willing to walk upto a mile or so. Fairly open on types of food and not crazy expensive (hefty apps/entrees mostly less than $20).
Any suggestions?
ETA: And I'll yelp, just like to know your thoughts.

Harvard is good suggestion, although its gotten a bit uninspired/Disneyland-esque. The Boathouse fits what you're looking for: bar with a cozy atmosphere and good reasonably priced food. If you want to bar hop you can hit up Russell House, Park, or Noir bar if you're looking for fancier/trendier options, or Shay's or Charlie's (the bar upstairs) if you're looking for something more chill/divey.
There's also a ton of bars/restaurants in Inman Sq on the Cambridge/Somerville line (which I prefer to Harvard, but is not as easily accessible by the T). If you go there I'd start at Bukowski's or Trina's and go from there.
We had fabulous margaritas and tacos at the Painted Burro in Davis Square. Friends also held a birthday dinner at the Rosebud Diner (also at Davis Square)...we had ten of us there from 7 to about 11 with great drinks and nibbles. I got an alcoholic lemonade that night that was phenomenal.
