Anyone have this? My doctor emailed saying my hemoglobin came back at 11.8, so mild anemia (but a big difference from 16.0 last April). Told me to take a daily iron supplement and dietary recommendations. I'm thinking it's because ingot out of the habit of taking my prenatal and it will resolve itself soon.
Did you have to take the iron throughout pregnancy? At least it explains why I am more tired than normal...was just assuming it was normal first tri with a toddler exhaustion.
I was a bit low on iron but managed without an iron supplement. I just took a regular multivitamin. I tried to eat a lot of meat, beans, nuts, and things like oatmeal, cream of wheat and even Triscuits (pretty high in iron for a snack). I also drank an Ensure every few days, but this was more because I was underweight to begin with.
I'm anemic too but the pills make me sick, constipated, and gassy. I tried the liquid natural kind (floradix) and I gagged too much. Soo, I'm just sticking with my mild anemia. Lol. My son was fine and not anemic at birth, so I think I'm the only one affected.

I've been anemic everytime. I wound up hemorrhaging after dd was born, then I was very anemic. I take Proferrin ES, which is pricey but works well and doesn't give me the nausea and constipation others do.

My iron was just a little low, so my doctor gave me a prescription for ferrous sulfate. My mom and sister were slightly anemic when they were pregnant too, so I kind of expected it.
Thanks ladies! I'm taking extra iron and trying to eat more in my diet as well. I didn't have this in any of my other pregnancies so it came as a surprise but also nice to know why I'm even more tired.
I wasn't anemic, but that might only be because I choked down my prenatals with iron pretty religiously. If you are taking extra iron be watchful of your hydration and fiber intake so you don't wind up constipated, between the iron and pregnancy naturally slowing down digestion. I wound up taking a lot of Metamucil, and also needed to add Colace in 3rd tri just to keep things moving.
