I watched 3x in a row. Blue Ivy is so cute. And that ending ..... damn.
I'm guessing my office would frown upon me putting up wall words of "I came to slay, bitch." Maybe a print of "Always stay gracious: the best revenge is your paper" would pass muster.
LOVE the video, but I wish she would do better with the songs. Not a fan of this one, especially the constant repetition of "I slay, ok, we slay ok," yadda yadda yadda. At this point, I am starting to feel like she has to release videos with her songs, or we'd realize the emperor isn't wearing any clothes. And I love Yonce!

I tend to like songs that are much more mellow than her songs usually are, but I have always admired her drive, work ethic, creativity, raw talent, athletic ability (have you seen her dance?), and (even thought it's super shallow) her beauty. That was an amazing piece of art.
Again, her physical appearance isn't any more impressive than all of the other admirable qualities listed above, but EVERY time I see her I think about how I would give anything to have her figure. I mean, anything except for the probably five hours of cardio she does each day just dancing.
That video was everything. I loved it. sfy, one of the younguns from Rae Sremmurd cowrote it, so maybe she was trying to appeal to the under 21 crowd as well. They (my sample size is high school students) really simple and repetitive words. They can't get enough of Future, Rae Sremmurd, and Migos,
Okay, that makes sense, because that's exactly what it sounds like. I guess I'm confused why a 34-35 year old songstress would want one of them to write a song for her? It seems like the last few songs she put out have been like this (and I say this as someone who liked 7-11, but come on). When can the grown ups get another Love on Top, Dangerously in Love, etc.? There are enough teeny boppers to appeal to the teeny boppers.

i liked the "I slay" part...not necessarily the words, but the way she says it with the beat.
We have to keep in mind that most of us aren't the target audience. It has that anthem feel and the I slay is catchy. The youngsters love it. Plus she is unapologetically black and country which is not a combo we see often. This song will certainly increase the sales at Red Lobster .

Houston ain't country. Now pass me a cheddar biscuit.
Have you heard her speak? She is hella country. It could be the Alabama in her who knows. I am from Miami, not country at all but my parents from Ga and Northern Fla make me super country in a lot of aspects.

Yes I've heard her speak.
Ha to northern Florida. I think people assume that Florida is full of relocated Yankees. They forget about the birthplace of southern rock.
I wonder what kind of hot sauce she's carrying in her purse. She said a long time ago that although she loves fried chicken, she can't eat it anymore. Maybe she's putting the hot sauce on pork skins instead.
Pork skins?! Now that's country :0 I feel like some comedian was talking about hot sauce recently. The love for the sauce runs deep.

This is what I don't get, though. Why aren't we the target audience? I'm not much older than Beyonce, so I feel like we kind of grew up together. It would have been like Diana Ross dropping away from my mother's demographic to target me. I mean, sure, I got my life to Upside Down, but it wasn't meant for me. I know she just replaced all her management--I hope this doesn't mean that she's taking her career this way permanently. Not just for my sake, but I don't think that most high schoolers want to hear music by people 20 years older than them on a regular basis. We got this wake up call when DS was a junior and basically told us that no one his age cared about Jay-Z because he's so old lol.

I don't think music is often marketed to our age group. It's always the young. Some artists transition and pull their audiences with them and some water it down. I never really like her music, her lyrics are always so dumb but it makes you dance and the youngs love that stuff.
I remember being a teenager and thinking Madonna was pitiful for still trying to appeal to young people. Beyoncé's not there yet....but it's getting closer.

If I see Yonce on stage at almost 60 in a leotard...I can't even.

Hmm...I'm feel like some young wispy 20 year old might THINK this is their anthem but really, really? This is for an executive lady lol.

I hear she's bringing her dad back. I think I liked her music most when he was in charge. Beyonce's lyrics have never been all the great but now they are terrible and anthemy plus they contain cursing so I can't even play it with the kids in the car.
Random- Tyrese's new album is pretty nice.
Agree so much with all this.
I think there is a difference between targeting young people and targeting actual teenagers. Let's hope Mathew pulls it together. Then he can pay his child support! Two birds, one stone, am I right?
I don't know that I can take Tyrese seriously enough to like his music, though. God, that is a dumb child.
Not I, foundmylazybum lol. I think even Michelle is like, "Girl, whet?" I feel bad for being so hard on her, because I love her so, but she earned it with this. At least I can mute the video and enjoy that.
