As you may know, 2 people in Canton were killed by falling tree branches during last week's storm. One was a member of my church, and the funeral is Friday. Our choir director has asked us to sing if we are able.

I have off, as does S. My normal backup babysitters for this sort of thing (the choir director's kids) are at school that day. I could put the word out to my local moms group to see if anyone can hang with her for a couple of hours. I do not want to bring her to the funeral.

Thoughts? Try to find someone or send my regrets?

They don't need me, but the guy has 3 sons all at the school, and he and his wife were/are heavily involved in the church. The goal is more to show community support rather than have a full choir.

I reached out on FB and one of the moms practically begged me to drop S off. She has a daycare with all boys, and her DD wants a girl to play with! I think I'm going to take her up on it

It's so sad. The other death was a 6yo girl. One of the moms here was friends with the family. We gave S explicit instructions not to get near a single tree on Saturday.
