Hello IN. I am a lurker that a long time ago posted on the other board. I hope one of you lovely ladies can help me.
We are flying back with our 2 children this summer for 6 weeks. I purchased a carseat (cosco scenera) 2 years ago for my son who used it this Christmas but I am afraid he will be very close to outgrowing it. My son will be 3 and is now around 35ish lbs and around 37ish inches). I plan on using this carseat for my daughter who will be a year and still rear facing.
I would like to buy a carseat that will last us awhile so I don-t need to worry about it at the next visit which probably won,t be for a year later (summer of 2017 or Christmas 2016) Does anyone have any good recommendations for seats that can convert into a booster? Or one that you are really happy with. I would like to not spend a ton of money since we will only be used it for such a short time but am willing to if need be.
Borrowing one isn't an option as we don't know anyone that has an extra seat that is not being used.
This would be a good post for the MMM board because there are a lot of posters with young kids there. One thing I'll say though is that some convertibles are more expensive than buying a separate harnessed seat & booster so a cheap FF seat may still work. I was looking at the Britax Pioneer or Frontier because I had a good experience with Britax Boulevards but they were way too expensive. I'm sure there are cheaper convertibles though.
We have a Graco Milestone that I'm very happy with for my youngest child. I went through so many car seats for my oldest that were used infrequently between our not having a car at all and living in two different countries until she turned 5 that I had a strong preference for an "all-in-one" this time around. It's heavier than a Cosco Scenera for travel, but will surely last longer. My daughter had outgrown the Scenera by age 3 or so.
I really like the SafeRider vest for my almost-four year old but I feel like any American police would give us the side-eye riding with it in the States. The Immi Go is what UberFamily uses and is supposed to be really portable but if you're really just storing it until the next visit, something like the Britax Frontier seems easiest.
