I recently got my hair highlighted and it turned out brassier than I wanted. I bought and used some purple shampoo and conditioner, which I've never used before, but I'm not sure how much it helped. Do I use it every day or will it dry out my hair?
I might go back and see if my hairdresser can fix it. I haven't decided yet.
Your stylist should do a quick toner on it, and if you're unhappy they shouldn't charge you. I have one put on my hair almost every time I get it colored for some reason. If you want to use a purple shampoo to maintain, I like the Blonde Ale from DryBar. It smells so good and my hair looks bright without being overdone and it's also so soft. You can get it at Sephora or Nordstrom.

I use blonde brilliance from Sally's it is a purple shampoo with toner... I use the one for cool blondes- I have TERRIBLE well water and I use mine everytime I wash my hair which is only a couple times per week. But I also have natural blonde hair with lowlights
I got purple highlights in November. Washing my hair in cool water with Joico purple shampoo and conditioner 2-3 times a week has kept the color.
I use the joico as well.
Sometimes right after my blonde gets touched up its still too brassy for my taste even with a toner so I can kind of correct it by using tons of the shampoo and leaving it on for 10 minutes or so and doing that for a few days in a row.
