Tween birthday gift help

I need some help! My niece is turning 11 and I need to find an awesome gift to send her. Any ideas?

She's in this awkward phase in which she still plays with her American Girl, but she's also into makeup and boys. I got her an awesome (in my mind) craft set for Christmas, but I could tell she wasn't thrilled, so i want to redeem myself with her birthday gift.

Extra points if I can get it on Amazon Prime.

How about some jewelry? Maybe something with her birthstone or initial? Those have gone over well with my nieces.

I know, when my cousin turned 13 it was all of a sudden so much easier to find gifts for her!!

my husband i disagree...I say at a certain age, kids want money. He still likes to give a gift. So we compromise...25$ cash and a 15-20 gift. This year we got my niece (14), a guitar pick necklace thing and funky hair bows from the hard rock cafe.

What about a subscription to American Girl magazine or something similar? I loved mine at that age.

Maybe it's to pricey but my 11yr old loves her iPod. Clothes? Maybe a nice purse? Stuff from Bath & Body Works? I have a 9 & 11 ye old and can think of tons of stuff so maybe ask her mom?
