We had sod laid last year and it still looks great overall. However there are few spots that are looking a little bare. What do you do to maintain/refresh your sod?
We also had sod added to a section of yard last year. Ours is looking eh. Part of it is the area is mostly shaded and hasn't had a chance to dry out due to the weather. We also have pretty thick clay soil in our area which is not helping. I think I am going to have the yard aerated and possibly partially seeded as well. I actually need to talk to our yard maintenance company about that, so thank you for the reminder. If you want, I can let you know what he recommends for our climate and new sod.

I would love that. I think I may have DH check in with the landscaper (his cousin) this weekend.
Water it? We also toss a little seed down in places that are bare.
I think too much water might be part of the problem. It has been a really rainy winter, and like melew, it looks like the shaded parts of our yard got overly saturated.

Do you have a sprinkler system? I think I am going to have our landscaper put dummy sprayers in the area of the yard that is all shade and hand water as needed for the summer to get it truly dried out. Otherwise, I think it will never recover. The rest of the yard gets baked by the sun, so the irrigation needs are much different. Unfortunately, the entire back yard is on one zone and I think the dummy heads will be our best bet.

We don't have sprinklers, but our yard is similar. Most of it is in direct hot sun, but there are a few edges shaded by our fig tree and only hit by the late sun. Checking in with the landscaper is a good idea.
